"its typicaly not very muddy these days mind you." Mate you must have not been there last year, many cars had trouble even getting off the start line. There was a hilux that ran but had a lot of trouble with traction so it might be worth looking at how they did it and try something differe...

Hopefully this helps a little. I have lockrites on the front of two of my cars and a detroit on the rear of one. The lockrites are excellent, much quieter and more predictable than the detroit. The detroit will randomly make massive bangs when it unlocks (often when going straight) especially when p...

You really can use any hose you like. As there is no pressure or fluid or heat running through them it really doesnt matter. You could even use garden hose if you wanted - its cheap, strong, standard size. Same principles apply to diffs as for transmissions/transfers so if you can do one, all you ha...

The best way to go about it is to take out your original breather and head down to your local auto shop and get a hose fitting with the same thread. then simply screw it in and run your hose off that. It will seal better and last longer and fit standard size hose. Then at the other end put a $5 fuel...

Jumping out of Low Range/High Range

Hi, I recently installed series 4 rockhoppers into my 1.3 transfer case and it now jumps out of low range into neutral sometimes or high range 4 into 2wd every time. I think i have forgotten a spring or something, can anyone help with this? I think its sposed to go from the outside in: detent screw,...

I just did my transfer case but I think the flanges are very similar. Knock the tab out with a centre punch, you just have to move it out a little. Drill a couple of holes in the end of a LONG star picket the same distance apart as the holes on your flange and bolt it to it so it stays still, then a...

Just wondering, by doing this are you transferring the load from the mounts to the actual transfer case housing? I know a few guys that have broken the housing with standard mounts. I know V8 you said you will use a rocktoy ring but where some of these designs dont have them I think I would definite...

4Runner Roof Strength

G'day, I have an 84 4runner with the standard fiberglass canopy and a roof rack cage that mounts onto the top of the canopy at the rear and onto the gutter mounts at the front and I wanted to build a lightweight roof top tent to put up there. What sort of weights have people carried on their 4runner...

Considered a swing away wheel carrier? This will help take some strain off the hinges in the future... Yeh, the wheel was removed from the door a while ago its just the weight of the door that has broken the panel underneath the hinge. I was thinking of re-inforcing it with some checkerplate. Has a...

Rear Door Broken Hinge Mount

The weight of the rear door in my sierra hard top has broken/rusted through where the bottom hinge is mounted to the pannel. It seems to be something that would be quite common but I cant find any info on how to fix it. Does anyone have any ideas on a way to strengthen where the hinge mounts? Cheers,

Re: Lockers

Gday All, For a lil sierra, what is the prefered form of locker, I have only ever used detroit, or ARB, but im leaning to Lock-right. Has anyone got first hand help, pros or cons of Lock-Right. If you do decide to go for a Lock-Right, I reckon it would be worth seeing if its possible to get it chea...

Rear Axle Seal, again?

Hi, I had a leaking rear axle seal on my 84 4runner. After having seals and bearings replaced less than 5000 k's ago it is leaking again. I have checked the diff breather and it was resting against something that was holding it closed and I guess this is what caused it. Does this mean I need to get ...
