Re: ideas please

Worn tappet pads where they touch on the valve stem and worn rocker shafts / rocker pivot bearings seem to be pretty common. I bought 3 sets before I got a good set to replace mine.
Another problem I found was that the tappets get a groove worn in it from the valve stem. If the feeler gauges are ...

GUtripper wrote:I guess it can't hurt..... Why do you want to use it though?

I did use it on an old v8 with about 400,000 kms on the clock, shut it up a bit in terms of lofter and rocker noise, and used less oil overall.
Just trying to reduce some tappett noise, nothing major.

Re: brakes

I'm no expert, and I may be wrong but.......you can go to an twin piston caliper on the front and change to discs on the rear. While you're at it change to slotted discs too. After you've done this you should look at your trailer and sort out a good braking set up for it. This will get the trailer ...

Re: tow capacity

certain GQs could tow 2800. check your book in your glovebox it might tell you.
I remember reading about it, I know two of the criteria were a manual gearbox and disk brake rear.

You need to think about GCM as well. they are heavy cars to begin with.

Re: tow capacity

My understanding is you can only tow what the car itself is rated to or the strength of towing system whichever is LOWER. What you cam actually tow I believe is determined by weight of vehicle, braking system on vehicle ie abs. I may be.wrong on.the last point though.

It Is possible to get your ...

If they are poly bushes then don't fit them because you will have less front flex then a stock Patrol. Seriously. Rubber will work well. You can get 6-7" drop boxes. That said, it may not be the drop boxes causing ...
