Re: Lift options? Pro's/Con's

ok How much of a job is it to get both arms off? Time wise? Torsion bars have to be dissconnected right?

My only problem ... from what I can... see is drilling the holes from underneath.

Re: Lift options? Pro's/Con's

ahh wonderful news!... though is it at all possible to do this without removing the balljoints from the axle hubs? and if not how much do I have to dismantle before I can get them off?

Initially I was planning to unbolt the top balljoint and just insert the spacer and bolt it back up and repeat for ...

Re: Lift options? Pro's/Con's

Well the lift hasn't quite happened but the spacers are now made and are awaiting the install. Any particular grade for the bolts that I should know of?

I was also wondering if there are issues with installing both top and bottom spacers prior to the rest of the lift(ie the rear springs and new ...

Now should I first lift then second get tyres then third do barwork so that I make sure the bar work wont interfer with wheels? Only going with ...

Ahh hello friend!

Would be great to see photos and I'd really like to know what the actual size of the tyres that you can fit under the lift are. I'm aiming to do pretty much the same mod as you, minus the terra shackles.

Keep us posted on it! :)

As for the EFS gear dannyboi I'm not sure ...

Ok thanks guys and thanks ferozamaniac for the pics. They're just what I needed to put my mind at ease :) So how much more droop has 40mm spacers given you? I was thinking of a 25mm spacer but that's starting to sound a little small. Thoughts anyone?

Also just read on WARF's that the bottom Spacer ...

Just had a closer look at the bottom control arm and am wondering if anyone can confirm that there is definately enough room for the spacer inside that hollow section at the end of the control arm? Looks lit it might be a bit of a squeeze.

Mmm of course lol. For some reason I over looked the fact that the CV's still stay in the same position  but with the extra droop hopefully I can keep the wheels on the ground a bit more and not have to bounce over the ruts as much :)

How much are Cv's going for these day anyways? for an ...

Just a word of warning too. Was out on a trip a couple of months back and one of the blokes that came out had a neat Hilux IFS front with "2" lift" (ie. torsion bars wound to the max). 2nd day we took on a hill climb and he came bouncing up the hill and suddenly got traction and Hmm! CV blown ...

Sounds easy... I like it. Just have to get round to machining up those spacers so I can do it all at once. Might try unbolting the rubber limiter and see how that goes first.
Thanks again for the input.

Front Seats give-away

I've got some front seats for the Fez to get rid of but thought someone might have a use for them so I'm letting you know before I go and dump them. The drivers seat is split and the foams a bit rough but has a seat cover and foam underlay so its usable and the passengers side has a couple of splits ...

So if done right then suspension lift should reap more benefits I'm guessing? but when you say "right" what do you mean?

I've got the facilities to make up top and bottom spacers from 25mm steel plate. So I assume there's no problem there. Is a wheel ...

Lift options? Pro's/Con's

I've been reading into the options we have to lift the mighty fez but I can't find a comparison between body lift and suspension lift. I’ve read through the FAQ’s plenty of times too.

The suspension lift I wanted to do was new tough dog suspension all round with rear springs reset, wound up TB's ...

Ahh of course. I haden't thought of that. Thanks for the heads up.

So when I make up my rear bar I can't just relocate the lights up to the body? I'd have to put them back into the bar?
Just out of interest though. Has anyone moved their lights and been picked up on it?

If you're finding it hard to get the exact bumper with the full cluster you could buy the blank bumpers from an earlier model and the in-body light cluster, rewire them and you're set. I've broken my bumper cluster multiple times and have bought the in-body cluster. They're sitting there awaiting ...

I would be powder coating but keeping it in good nick with rocks, and ruts etc would be a pain, especially if it needs to be stripped and recoated completely if the coats get damaged. I made it so i didn't have to worry about the fez's belly... not to add something else to be carfully with. hence ...

Thanks MM I talked to a guy at a workshop and he can get me some 3mm Mild steel sheet for free and some angle if needed to strengthen it (is it necessary at this thickness? as folded gussets at this thickness is impossible with our tools)

also saw the plans on this thread http://www.outerlimits4x4 ...
