Safety Recall ?
Hey guys whos received a letter from Daihatsu (well Toyota Australia) ?
It goes :
"we are contacting you to advise that a fuel evaporative emission check valve may develop a crack in longer term usage due to insufficient durability"

I got one, came on here to post but you beat me.
Recall is related to fuel vapour entering the cabin via a faulty fuel evap check valve, and should have been mailed out to every owner of a Registered Daihatsu that is possibly affected, and requires the owner to take their vehicle to the local Daihatsu dealer (Toyota) for the (free) fix.
SCAN OF THE LETTER:
I was like "wow Daihatsu logo...." then "holy crap Daihatsu wrote to me!!" lol

We print the Nsw Wollongong paper "Illawarra mercury" at work. I saw the recall.. i was like wtf! Daihatsu arn't even in aus anymore!
The recall is from the first 1983 rockys, to the late imported ones and feroza's. They were poo to start with, they are poo now. And 3/4 of them are in wreckers or have been wrecked!
I was shocked, bit late don't you think!
Maybe its a Toyota thing for reliability because of their legal problems....

Safety Recall ?
Only prob is before they order part down this way they gotta look at car prior to ordering parts, my 90 EL111, 91 EL111 & 89 DX are all being done, one of them wasn't even registered but that's ok with them, so find a Farm Bomb or Bush Basher and they may fix it too.
Was recall really about when US guy pushed lighter & lit up huge Cigar:

Have 2 Ferozas, keen vehicle modder, do most repairs myself, 62years young, got the Feroza Bug....
What's involved and where do they have to access?
Wow, just called Grand Toyota on the Gold Coast. They asked for rego and booked me in for tomorrow. Now that's what I call after sales service.
I've converted my roza into a ute with a false bottom and draw setup in the back. Could someone pls advise me if I need to pull this all out first?
Thanks in advance.

Mine's shot
Toyota dealer didn't have the part in stock but apparently mine's stuffed so I gotta go back. The desk girl reckons Toyota planned for 15 to 20 ferozas on the gold coast but so far they've had more than 40. Go the Roza.

Re: Safety Recall ?
Im pretty bloody annoyed at this.
Ive had my Frozi 5yrs now. For the first two years there was the raw fuel smell in the cab. I payed out heaps to mechanics to find the issue. Lots of time in the shed I ended up removing and plumbing up a 'filter box' inside the panel above the fill pipe.
When I got the recall notice I went to my local NorthPoint Toyota. They sourced the new checkvalve and I surrended the Frozi to the workshop. That Arvo they rang to tell me my bus didnt have a unit to replace so they canned the job.
To be told `if you can prove the mechanic visits you might be at a chance of getting some reimbursement' was music to my ears. But, Ive never been one to hold on to receipts nor has the mechanic it seems.

Fumin`!
