I got one from Allpro Offroad in the states and it works a treat, no more problems with wet brake shoes and no hand brake. I had to get my exhaust shifted around and underneath the brake assembly but the bloke did such a good job I haven't lost any ground clearance. The only other real problem is ...

Hey Pulux,
I do have an adjustable torque rod. From what you've described about moving your diff forward I imagine you wouldn't be able to turn left as tight as you could right because your pitman arm wouldn't be centred when the wheels were straight. Am I right?[/quote]

Are you talking about Woodford in the NSW Blue Mountains? If so I'd like a bit more info about where you went.
Cheers!!

Thanks for your replies. I'm driving a 92 dual cab hilux with 2" suspension lift and 235/85R16 (32") tyres. I'm looking to stop the tyres rubbing the back of the inner guards under compression and perhaps even larger tyres. You're right about the project GQ my memory let me down again. I'll rephrase ...

Bodylift longevity

Looking at relenting and checking out body lifts. I've seen the usual aray of body blocks but noticed one kit had square RHS tube which I assume is welded to the chassis. I note an article in 4WD Monthly where they did this on their Patrol project to improve rigidity. What are your thoughts, anyone ...

It might be time to think about going crossover sooner rather than later. A new j arm from Toyota will set you back near on $400, a second hand one is about $100-$125. They don't have to be bent much to cause problems so it could be hard to pick a good pre loved one. I wouldn't recommend bending it ...

The solenoid will work just fine, my set up uses just a solenoid and given me no problem. If you've already got the Pirahna setup then perhaps put it to use but I wouldn't be rushing and besides if whats there works save yourself the hassle. Don't know what amp hour rating you would fit in but have ...

I just bought a hub seal and bearing kit from Bouncer Spares in Smithfield Sydney, cost me $138. This is for both sides, you still need to purchase wheel bearings if you need them. If your hub seals are leaking it is usually because the swivel hub bearings have failed.

Problem sorted! My J arm was bent although it is hard to see, I fitted a new item from Mr Toyota and things line up much better. Waiting on new shocks now, so while I wait I'll check that everything clears OK when off road.

I've got a 92 dual cab with 2" suspension lift and my 235/85R16's (32" equivalent) rub the back of the inner guard under compression. Not a big deal just no paint on that part, it's also noisy when the plastic inner catches. The 33's might catch a bit more especially the extra width. Your standard ...

No problems with reliability as long as you keep good clean oil up to them. I've had mine for approx 3yrs and only once did the rear one appear not to work and behave a little eratic. I had it checked out and the diff input bearing was worn, while it was out I had the locker springs and pins ...

I run Lock rights front and rear in my lux and reckon they're great, although tight turns in 4wd are not an option. The Lokka is a copy of the Lock right and apparently there have been problems with them, that said my brother in law fitted one in the front of his Jackaroo against advice and hasn't ...

Got the ute back from the mechanic, went to take a photo of the damage to the shock and the bloody digital camera has pooped itself. Did see an 84 - 88 model today and the J arm is lower where it connects the drag link than mine, this would appear to be the root of my problem with the extra flex ...

Mine is 490mm with the road tyres on (245/70R16), with the play tyres it'd be about 520mm (235/85R16).
One thing surprised me, while there are quite few taller than me, I'm not as far out of the league as I thought I would be when I first read this thread.

Thanks for the info so far. Will take some pics and post them when I get the ute back from mechanic. Could be a couple of days though! Our setups sound the same, I'm running Tough dog leaves all round (2" lift front and about 3" rear) the fronts sure do give a heap more flex than the OME's I had ...

I currently run Rancho RS9115's and they interfere with the steering linkage during articulation. I am hoping these hoops will push the top of the shocks further out and therefore give me more clearance.
I have also thought about running new shocks upside down, any thoughts?

Thanks for your replies so far. I don't think the J arm is bent but I'll check against another lux to compare. This only started to occur with the new shocks, they're RS9115's and give me more travel than the OME's that were fitted. I have thought about shock hoops to push the shock out further at ...

Hilux J arm / steering linkage hitting shock

Hi all, I'm new to this forum so forgive me if I'm going over old ground, however my best efforts haven't found anything on this subject. Has anyone had problems with the steering linkage hitting the front shock during articulation? For your interest I have a LN106 with 2" lift springs and Rancho ...
