2.8 Turbo diesel Rodeo. Your thoughts

A mate is lookin at buying an 89 model that only has 150 000 kms on it. I think it is a bit dear at $14000 but he seems keen on it. How do they perform? He was looking for a petrol one but can't find one.

Tell me the good and the bad.

Firing order for LN46

Just finally fixed my timing belt and have checked my clearances on valves but need to find out the firing order so we can check it. I cannot find it in my manual. All the clearance specs are their but not the firing order. Does anyone know?

I have a tapping noise that gets worse when I accelerate.

OK I put the timing belt back on how it was when I took it off but now it won't even start. The injection must be wrong. It is two teeth out. As I know it starts when the marks line up but doesn't quite run right, I will adjust it off these marks, but which way will I adjust it? Should I take it ...

Timing belt woes

Hi guys

Replaced my timing belt the other night and the car now has really good low down torque but revs really highly to get to only 80k/hr.

Lined up all the marks as per manual. Noticed when I was taking it off that the mark on the injector pulley was sitting at about 10 o'clock instead of ...

I am looking at changing to a 5 speed but don't know exactly what is involved.

What gearboxes from newer hiluxes will suit my car and what sort of modifications will I need to make?? I am hoping it will just bolt straight in but I don't think I could be that lucky!!!

It is an 83 LN46 2L diesel ...

Drama fitting extractors

Just finished putting on my extractors after 4 1/2 hrs. Never thought it would be so much trouble. Had to remove air cond thingy and then when I put the extractors on I could only get 6 out of 8 bolts back in, holes just wouldn't line up. Only out by a fraction of a millimeter but they just wouldn't ...

I put Recaro's into my 83 lux. Used same rails as what was in there already just had to modify them a bit. Also had to make the new seats higher so I have four bits of 65 x 65 RHS post under my ass for the extra height. Dodgy I know but it works a treat.

Upgrading was my first thought also, but I rang ARB and TJM and both said that there are no aftermarket parts to replace it.

Would prefer to buy bigger and better so it doesn't happen again, but where will I get it from. Any ideas????

Just curious as to the reason why my drag link assembly? So i have the front ones around the wrong way. What a pain in the arse. The one I have on the passenger side says D/S and the one I have on the drivers side says N/S. What would the N/S stand for? The back ones don't differentiate which side they are on so I guess they are OK.
