What kind if connector is a factory iveco connector?
I would be looking at places like ashdown, alanco and such.

My only gripe about GQ's are the lack of axle upgrades and every P plate farkwit and his dog seems to buy them and thrash the shit out of the bogholes with their "unit" stickers and flat brim "i take it anally from horses" caps.

A GQ would probably be the obvious choice, parts cheap and plentiful, tough driveline, coils etc. Just a matter of finding a decent one that fits the budget. Fuel costs might depress me in the long run though. Id like to stay away from lpg if possible, ive had trouble with every lpg car ive had ...

Any idea what it weighs laden/unladen? Looks bloody heavy!! But I guess that's what you pay for solid and well built.

I would be more concerned as to why an engine was being rebuilt at 150,000km, then thinking an even greater concern as to why a TD42 is being rebuilt at 150,000km

I can have the front case in low, and the rear case in neutral, and be in low range, so I can crawl like I do now.
No, you would be in neutral. The front case, really only becomes an additional 2 speed gearbox in between the gearbox and transfer case, to give as others have said, more options ...

You can try a few things.
Pull it out, pull it apart, clean it and hit every solder joint with an soldering iron to resolder them in case of any dry joints. Some people supposedly have success with this, but I didn't when mine was doing the same.
Another is to replace it with a second hand unit ...

The amount of 'body lift' is determined fromt the front seats of the body I am putting on (LN106 hilux) - I am allowed to go 4 inch total lift so if the seat in teh hilux sit at the same height as the original patrol ones I have no 'body lift' and can go 4 inches on the springs. Make sense?

Typically, the interior light works off a switched negative, not a switched positive.
So the interior light, typically, the bulb has a constant positive on one side. You put the switch to "on" and it just earths out the other side to the body, switching it to "door" changes it so it hooks to the ...

I'm 33 and my GQ and my last one only cost $415 or something like that through QBE, NRMA and AAMI off memory were both similar priced by only $10 or so.
They must be really stinging you for your locations for some of those prices and here I was bitching about the price I've been having to pay.

Re: how to install a tacho on a diesel landcruiser??
You'll need to use a "Diesel" Tacho which gets it's signal from the alternator. You then connect it to the "W" terminal of the alternator. Not all alternators have this terminal, but it's not a major job to have the alternator modified to add the wire into it.

GQ LWB needs tyres...currently running 265 75 16, have access to 265 70 16.
will that make any difference really...5mm to sidewall?
There's more then 5mm difference, it's closer to an inch difference in overall diameter. Effectively stepping from a 32" (265/75R16) tyre to a 31" (265/70R16).
