could be the bearing in the alternator as these are quite common... A good way to tell is to get a helluva long screwdriver and whilst the car's running holt it on the suspects - water pump, alt etc and see if they sound like they are crunching or if they all sound the same. Belts also do wear ...

Mate the clutch fan hubs are full of oil, which can basically wear out over time, you can buy the oil from any toyota parts place (not sure about nissan) it just requires opening the hub up (it should have screws/ bolts in it). i did this to my pop's overheating pajero with the toyota oil and it ...

macneil - mate i basically want the strongest to start with so i have no issues...and the longer gearing of the 4.2 box would suit the v8 better... so the smallest diffs in the gq's are h233's? 233mm is still a huge diff, so i doubt ill have issues - and i hear there are less ratios available for ...

could be a bearing, belts would only slip for the first couple of minutes - does it get worse if u try and steer, this would only make a diff if it has power steering... is it a screech or a squeak or a grinding noise?

do both the petrol and diesel 4,2 have the strong box? i know with toyota they have a box/ diff codes on the build plate on the firewall...do patrols have these, and if so what codes for diff/ box am i looking for? do you think the box will hold my motor with a h/d clutch etc?
