Why would one want to put the LD28 slug into a D21 ?? It's a heavy boat anchor with no power at all and won't even fit into the D21 engine bay lengthwise. The LD28 is a straight six while the D21 engine bay is designed to house a inline 4 or a V6. The oil pan would the least of your problems. You ...

The bolt will stop when the thread is at it's end. Depending on the condition of the t-bars this can be before the bumpstop hits the UCA or thereafter. If it's before you can reindex the front t-bar anchors by a few splines. The upper bumpstop must not be closer than 20-25mm to the UCA to make sure ...

With the ZD30 you can keep it all Nissan and use stock parts. The Terrano II, which is basically the Pathinder frame with a different body, was avail. with the ZD30 in Europe.
I have this combination as a daily driver and I love it.

Gibson Airflow S93 (that's the one I have)
TJM Airtek for the Ford Courier / Mazda B2500
Safari SS950HF

Those are the one that fit from the body lines. You have to build the air routing from the snorkel to the air filter box with flexible hose (80mm dia.), but that's no big deal at all.

The TD27 is good for half a million km's if serviced correctly. No timing belt and no real heat issues with that engine. The steering is a bit of a pain when the Terrano is lifted or has big tyres on it. Other than that it's a good and reliable 4x4. Tough Dog sells the Sway-A-Way stiffer torsions ...

As stool says, easiest way to completely bleed the system.
I discovered also that the RD28T runs best with no muffler at all, just straight thru with the biggest diameter avail.
Turbo kicks in about 300rpm earlier (had a boost gauge on mine) and is not too loud.

Sure that all air is out of the cooling system ? The RD28T needs a special procedure for bleeding and holds air pockets if not bleeded correctly.

Never seen a RD28T blowing a headgasket without cracking the head about 0.005 seconds later ;) and since the RD28T was the only, officially, avail. engine in Germany I've seen a whole lot of them.

If you're after a TD42, have a look in the UK. They're plentyful there and are cheap right now due to the new road tax system over there. A 4.2 GQ usually goes for less than 4k€ as a complete driveable car. Just picked up a '95 Maverick for 300€ :D

Seems like the ZD30 in the Navara is not exactly the same as the Patrol engine. I have the ZD30 in the Terrano and it runs great with 115k km's. In Europe the only ZD30's with real problems were Patrols up to 2001 (I think) when the engine update came. Haven't seen any newer belly up yet.

As for being low, the MK/MQ was a belly dragger since it's birth.

The Xterra is a US-only thing, sadly. Europe and Australia got the the Terrano II in 1993 based on the first gen. Pathfinder chassis which is very similar to the Xterra bodylines. The Terrano II was built until 2004.

Starter with Chev engine in GQ ?

Just test-fitted the 4.3 V6 Chevy with a TH700 and Marks t-case adaptor into my ex-TD42 GQ shorty and found out that the stock Chevy starter might hit the diff case at full bump pretty hard. It sits right above the diff. The V6 is basically a shortened SBC, so everything first gen. Chev V8 will ...
