Re: ford ranger beeper/alarm

Easy mate. You just remove the cowl on top of the steering column and disconnect the white (I think) plug with two wires connected to it above the ignition barrel. 5 minute job.

Well I drive an '08 Mazda BT-50 dual cab manual and I'm ABSOLUTELY BLOODY THRILLED WITH IT. Towing capacity is 3000 Kg (Hilux, for example, is only 2200) and load carrying ability is 1.2 tonnes, that's a third more than Hilux. The rear suspension is a bit hard, but hey, it's a ute, right ? Can't ...

That's what I'd like to do but try finding one over here... Suzuki owners stock up on parts even if they don't need them and they even reserve parts at the wreckers!

Coily transfer case chain

Hi everyone,

Can anyone tell me where I could buy a transfer case chain for a 1998 coily sierra? I'd need to buyè it over the net and have the part sent to New Caledonia.

Otherwise, where can I find a reconditionned SJ70 widetrack transfer case with jackshaft ?

Thanks!

If you can find a decent standard SJ80 (coily) with power steering and aircon, you're laughing.

However, as said previously, get ready to cry when she locks the hubs... :D

Wideaz, I thing Tough Dog make an adjustable panhard rod for the coily and Snake Racing might too. Snake Racing make castor corrected trailing arms as well with rubber bushes so you get plenty of flex from them. I reinforced the trailing arm mounts on the rear diff for mine as they started to tear ...

Apparently they ALL shudder when you take off in first gear or reverse but I don't think it's a clutch problem as they do it even with the clutch all the way out. It's the same as trucks do.

That's why I drive a BT-50 :D

All six of the major dual cab utes sold today are made in Thailand. They include the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Mitsubishi Triton, Holden Rodeo, Nissan Navara and Mazda BT-50. Yeah mate, tried the BT-50 off-road last weekend while hunting on a private property and I can say I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it made it look. What the Mazda's got over the Triton is the size of the suspension components, particularly the shocks which are twice as big as the Mitsubishi's ...

OK, some good news! Apparently the jumping out of gear problem must have been because the car was new and something in the gearbox was not working as it should because it hasn't done it again at all. The dealer was very good about it and would've done everything necessary to fix it, only it's gone ...

New BT-50 - Jumping out of gear

Hi everyone, I bought a new Mazda BT-50 TD yesterday. Today, I decided to try out low range for the first time on some hilly but reasonably smooth terrain. I was coming down a steepish hill in low first on engine braking when the gearbox lever jumped out of gear. I thought I may not have engaged ...

Hi everyone,

Funny that, I own a coily too and am about to buy a double cab Mazda BT-50. I should get it next week some time and I can't wait !

Speaking of which, does anyone know what the trasfer case ratios are on these? I can't seem to find any info anywhere about the T/case.

cheers and thanks,

Well, I've had my big bore ARB compressor since January this year and have being using it to pump up at least 8 tyres after each 4WD outing (albeit small, not 33's or 35's) and I reckon it's great. Not long ago, I even pumped up a tractor tyre from flat to 20 PSI which took close to half an hour ...

Hi everyone, Have any of you coily owners had problems with the chain in the transfer case jumping teeth ? If you go with Calmini gears, you won't have any problems with strength. They're not cut and shut jobs like some of the others, they're fully engineered and manufactured from high strength steel. Don't know much about the Low Range Offroad gears but I've heard they're pretty good as well.

mate, if you get your hands on some cobalt hardened drill bits, you'll drill through your springs no worries. Just get the size you need, they're usually sold by the unit. Not cheap but VERY MUCH worth it.

If your handbrake doesn't work, maybe you have a leak in one of the wheel cylinders and it's leaking oil over the drum, or one of the rear wheel bearing is dead and you're getting diff oil inside the drum. Visually check the drums and the inside of the rear rims for signs of an oil leak.

G'day Jonno, Leafy transfer will go in no worries but you need to change the shaft that goes from the gearbox to the transfer case. Diff centers are the same as far as I know, only the diff ration changes from 3.7:1 to 3.9:1 on coilies. The good thing is you can buy each part to fix your diff ...

Don't think the body lift has anything to do with it. Pull the handbrake on and push down with your finger on the handbrake light switch which is on the left side of the handbrake. If the light goes out, then your problem is that the bit of metal located on the handbrake that pushes down on the ...
