Re: 1HD-FT into 80 Series
It's not the way that I do it (diode) but it will probably work well and give you what you want. Im always available to take a call, or at least will call back. I even have to do this with dealers.... Raising the boost alone on an FTE will do nothing for you if you are that close to boost cut. In ...

Re: 1HD-FT into 80 Series
Hi CustomTurbos i have a HDJ100r with 1HDFTE How do you get around the over-boost fuel cut on the 1hdfte? I have attempted to raise the boost but I cannot increase it even 1psi or the engine goes into fuel cut. You must stop the ecu seeing 4v. You can do this electroncially or via pressure bleed to ...

Graeme, do you know any way for a home tuner to measure AFRs with out spending big dolllars? The old look for the black smoke :). Other that a wide band O2 sensor and gauge or LM2. yeah, was hoping for something slightly more scientific than looking in the mirror  Actually, this mighht be ...

Re: 1HD-FT into 80 Series
Toyota builds for 500kkm, its part of the Toyota ethos, thats the secret. Its the same with engines such as the 2JZ-GTE. These have made as much as 950hp at the wheels (dyno queen) on a stock bottom end unopened. Thats quite incredible. Compare that to the much coveted RB26-DETT which gets block ...

Re: turbo my 1hz or put a 1hd-t ?
Torque/power curve. All uncorrected, at wheels This one shows steady state at 1409rpm. It's making 66whp, 11psi boost and AFR's are still over 17:1. The 1HZzzzzz usually makes less than that at 3400rpm! The EGT's on this setup are great, not so for the other options presented. 1HZ 11psi no ...

Re: turbo my 1hz or put a 1hd-t ?
Best option, if you have the coin is a 1HD-T or 1HD-FT with a Gturbo, big front mount intercooler and 3" zorst Thanks :-) True enough, selling a working 1HZ and paying $7700 for a good condition warranted JDM import 1HDT is an economical solution when you crunch all the numbers. PJM Performance ...

Re: 1kz-te fly by wire intake
Three reasons for butterfly on diesel: * Shut down engine (such as 12HT) * Reduce shut down shudder by reducing effective compression ratio (early 1HDFTE) * Assist with egr by creating a vacuum in the intake manifold, drawing the exhaust gas in (such as late 1HD-FTE) Bypass your EGR, remove the ...

Re: 1HD-FT into 80 Series
Josh, The Garrett line up are very well suited for petrols, but not so much diesels. Two significant reasons are the large disparity in exhaust temperatures and the lower rpm of opeartion. The former is perhaps the biggest factor. If you have clear goals then there is a clear answer. The factory ...

Re: Which power upgrade chip, 2010 Patrol CRD
As far as I know, the EGT "adjustment" on Chipit is nothing more than one of those eBay "Auber" EGT gauges with built in relay control. These were designed for Kilns, to shut off the heater element. Anyone can retrofit one of those on any chip. Its a strictly on/off basis though. There are other ...

As already said, the front piece of manifold from a 1HDT will fit and make it a bolt up arrangement. eBay is a good source for oil feed and drain flange. Make up some oil lines and all is good. Water cooling not required but better to have than not. If turbo has 42040 stamped on the housing, you ...

Someone should write up a cad program to do cnc porting. It gets back to the Perfect vs close thing mate, all these changes may make an improvement but the returns are dimisnishing. Doing it "right" is so subjective. Right for your engine and right for a Lemans or F1 engineer is completely different ...

Swaftec is on Outers as "Swaffie", check in Nissan forum as he mostly does the TD42's - The same type pump used in the 1HZ.
The factory turbo does have the 12mm std however the timing ramp is completely different.

If the plenum is large enough then the entry point won't matter much. Thats the problem though. How do you make it alot larger? The $1M question is: "How many cylinders worth of volume do we need in the plenum?" I don't know the answer, I'll bet it takes a fair bit of CFD to know for sure. Once we ...

1HZ plus a good turbo and excellent cooling and one of Swaffies pumps could go nicely. Dont expect 1HDT economy though.
As for auto, as far as I know they work of TPS and rpm only, so you should be ok with some mildly clever interception. This is theory - not done it.

I thought welding to the manifold was a no no. Cant stop the pin holes that form. Why cant you just make a completely new intake manifold? I never said you couldn't, but most owners want bang for your buck. I would have no qualms about welding onto the factory cast manifold. At the end of the day ...
