Re: Landcruiser gearbox into hilux

I ran the R151 & chain driven transfer case behind my 5lt turbo V8 for 8 years with no problem at all, smashed diffs, clutches and axles but never the transfer case.
Now I'm running a built T700R4 with the chain driven transfer case behind it.

Re: Th700 - hilux transfer shortening adaptor

Yep engine mounts have to be bomb proof, I made mine using GQ trailing arm bushes and I have cross members for both auto and transfer case.
Locktight with spring washers for adapter and the 4 bolts on the end of the auto (that bolts to the adapter) are twice as long plus the bottom 2 bolts go ...

Re: Th700 - hilux transfer shortening adaptor

I made my own adaptor to suit the T700R4 to Hilux tranfer (with the help of a few club mates with wicked machinery)

Made a coupler sleeve to mate it together, 23 spline to 27 spline, had it nitrided for strength

Re: ifs hilux to vt v8 conversion

Yeah a fair amount of work goes into the auto to make it work properly offroad, you need to be able to hold the gear you want when climbing or decending tracks.
You could just modify a stock auto's valve body so it will hold the gears but it will not last long if you give it a hard time.
Rebuild ...

I run the Dirty 30's and love 'em, I have run the Longs in the past and broke them then I ran Haultec CV's with Longs axles (27 spline) .
The Haultec CV's & Longfield axles lasted 8 years of abuse so I rekon I got my money out of them  .

I've just swapped in A T700R4 behind my Holden V8 (been in for a couple of months now) and it is an awesome gearbox but I rebuilt mine before putting it in.
I would advise on doing a rebuild if your going to do hard work/tracks in your 4by, a must is the Beast or Sonnex sun shell as it is 90 ...

I've run ratchet shifters with no drama's, a trick is to give the gate a bit of graphite dust every 6 months.
I run a full manual built T700R4 in my daily with a modded B&M Quick Click ratchet shifter and it is smooth to shift.

Deffinately get in touch with M/T rep and lodge a complaint that way you will have a date for them to reference when you do get to the tire shop in a couple of months.

Next check your trailing arm bushes, my top right is the one that wears first.

Yep I have made a flywheel cover that is silicon-ed, the clutch fork has a rubber boot that is sealed with silicone too.
I took the gearbox out a couple of weeks ago to check the clutch (yearly service time) and it was clean as in there  and the clutch/pressure plate are in grouse condition.

Exedy is working a treat in mine too, I had the pressure plate modified to clamp a lot more and the clutch plate I'm now running is an Exedy Dyna truck (it has bigger/stronger springs)
The peddle is heavy but it locks up grouse and has no slip at all.
It's been in for 2 years now.
