They look like they hang down a lot as most of us have them mounted directly to the ends of the chassis rails, something like this:

The 2-300mm clearance allows spotties, winches, antenna's to be mounted behind the bar. Also gives some squash room between the bar and the body should you ever hit something hard.

My zook has 30 x 9.5 muddies on 15mm offset rims, and they only just poke out past the metal guards.

Bad Juju - Those pics were taken just after the sills were removed and the stonegaurd paint done, hence it was nice and clean.

The tube is still there, I have though of reinforcing that tube as well.

It's a similar concept, but rather than crush tubes, there is an exactly fitting solid block inside the rails, so the force is spread more evenly.

I only have one recovery point on at the moment, will get same done on the ...

Here's how my custom bar (pro made) is mounted.

It "plugs into" the chassis rail as a solid block, then bolted.
You can see the holes for thr recovery hook.

Here's the rest of the bar:

Headlight warning buzzer

Hey all,

How would I wire up a warning buzzer in a negatively switched zook?
I bought a cheap buzzer from super's, and when wired up as per the instructions, it buzzes all the time (obviously!)

Is there an easy way of doing it?
I'm sick of having to jump start my car :( and I'm not yet ready to ...

My hardtop has factory air con, works a treat. Installed in Darwin by original owner.

Doesn't kill the engine too much (not when daily driving), but will cause cooling and power issues is your using it whilst wheeling, esp hillclimbs etc.

What source for 'ignition' line??

I'm putting a thermo into my zook and was wondering what would be the best source for the 'ignition' line for the relay?

It would preferably be near the battery somewhere, I hope.

Any advice is appreciated as always!

I had just read that there are better ways of doing it, some other form of thermatic switch.

Guess I'll be setting it for around 100 and keeping a close eye on how it goes.

What temp to set a thermo fan to kick in??

Hey all,

After a heater hose let go on me I've decided to give the cooling system an overhaul. :x

Whilst the rad is out, I'm putting in a thermo.
What temp should I have it kick in? Going onto a G13BA, no engine mods.
The thermostat opens at 82, and fully open by 95. Would 95 be the correct temp ...

Stock seat removal - threaded bolts??

Hey all,

This may sound silly, but 5 out of 8 bolts holding my seats in seem to be threaded - one on the drivers side and 3 on the passengers.

How can I get them out without destroying them? I am trying to dry fit my new seats (they are very comfy) and the bolts just keep spinning...

Cheers ...

I guess it depends if you are including a cat converter or not.

I've been quoted around $220 just for the cat, around $240 for the extractors and around $150 for the muffler and bits in between.

I got myself a gizmo to remind myself to turn off my headlights - i can be a bit forgetfull
