I put a 60 series 5 speed in my 47 troopy and took the back half off the 47 transfer and swapped it for the back half of the 60 transfer. It fits perfectly and the stock handbrake cable will still reach. Way easier then doing the rear wheels handbrake set up. What did you do with your chassis ...

I would have thought you could fit one, as they have the same transfer case with the exception of a slightly larger idler shaft in the later ones. I guess you would also need to use the earlier case so you had threads in the casting to mount the brake on. I'll have a closer look next time I'm at the ...

Check your engine mounts, my 40 did it until I changed the mounts.

The twist in the driveline was pushing the shift lever against the hole in the floor - popping it out of low when I lifted the throttle.
