I've confirmed that both vehicles are 4.11 - both compliance plates say HG41.

How hard is it removing the centres? Do the half shafts need to come out?

GQ/Mav Diff Ratios

I've had a look through a bunch of threads and so far haven't come across a conclusive answer. I've got a 95 TD42 and I have the opportunity to get a diff centre off a 89 TD42 Maverick with an air locker in it. Can I simply swap the diff centres over? From what I've read, all TD42s came with 4.11s ...

Did you have any trouble mounting it? I want to replace my cleaner, which sits where a second battery usually would. Any idea on what one would cost?

While I don't mind a bit of DIY I can see myself dropping the box out and me being crushed under it :P Its not just oil from changing the oil filters that has run down onto the starter motor and around the bellhousing?? Rear Main Replacement Cost

Looks like I am going to have to bite the bullet and get the rear main replaced on my TD42. There seems to be quite a bit on the starter motor and around the bell housing, so hopefully it's just that.

Any idea on what sort of cost I would be looking at to have this done?

Re: 54mm nuts in front hubs

i've got the haynes manual and it doesn't mention to much about the washer. I would assume that they are meant to be straight. I was halfway doing mine yesterday before i realised that I need a 53 mm socket. Going to get one today. I will let you know how mine come out when i do it. Just wondering ...

Use a torque wrench. I'll go grab a couple of new washers off Nissan in the morning. Regarding torqueing the nuts up, is it such a critical thing that I should go and spend the money on a torque wrench? Of course I would rather do it properly, but the extra costs aren't always easy when one is a ...

do you need a 54 or a 53 socket? and what torque should they be done up to ? The book says 53 mm socket 167 - 196Nm I thought I'd heard 53mm in the past too, but the guy down at a local tool shop had these sockets specifically designed for this looked on his computer and gave me the 54mm. It did ...

54mm nuts in front hubs

rears come straight off, fronts are bolted to back of hub, meaning hubs off, exposing wheel bearings, which you may as well do at same time, and by then your not more than 20 minutes away from having the cv's out. If I take the hubs off, will anything fall out (fluids or the like)? Anything that ...

I thought this might have been an isolated problem, but after doing a couple of searches it seems it's happened to a few other people. It's pretty obvious that the previous owner at some time lost the front left wheel somewhere, I didn't notice this until after I had bought it and took the wheel off ...

Shocks - Belton Overlander vs. EFS

The Mav needs a new set of shocks, and from what I've been told it's either going to be the EFS or Belton Overlanders. I've found absolutely no info on the Belton shocks, but I have been told that they are a little softer than the EFS. From the searches I've done, many people seem very happy with ...

Arggh, lost something in the dash

I was just playing around with a couple of guages on the dash thinking to myself that I better not let the little plastic shim type things holding the gauges in fall down the front of the dash... A second later, one of the plastic doobas popped out and promptly fell down in to the vents pointing up ...
