Re: proud new 60 owner

Well! I'm back in Melbourne now, having driven my HJ60 from Medowie, NSW over 1100km to Melbourne and couldn't be happier. I filled up in Raymond Terrace, just north of Newcastle on the Pacific Hwy, and the old cruiser is still going on that tank of fuel (it does have an auxilliary tank of an ...

Re: proud new 60 owner

Yeah, i'm definitely leaning towards keeping the white one but using the 12HT out of the red one rather than lifting two bodies off the chassis and swapping them round. About the transmission, every single car that I have ever owned has been manual, so I am a manual person myself (and so is my ...

proud new 60 owner

:) G'day to all you 60 fans out there! I'm the proud new owner of a 1983 HJ60 (white car) with a 4 speed and 2H rebuilt 20,000km ago. This is it here. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120673988626&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; In 2009 ...

NG Pajero...busted CV?

This weekend just passed, I was looking forward to going up to my property for a bit of 4WDing. We got there and I locked the hubs and put it in 4WD. *crunch* *crunch* as I drove forward, and the 4WD light didn't come on the dashboard. I went and unlocked the left hub cap, and the 4WD light came on ...

60 series 12HT exhaust upgrade?

G'day, I would like to find out what size people think is appropriate for a new 60 series exhaust upgrade. In the next few months, I am looking at restoring my old, stock standard 60. Apart from replacing the tyres, suspension and giving it a new paint job, i'd like it to breathe easier too. Do I go ...

Re: NG Pajero- cut my loss????

Tomorrow I will be taking my car to have the cylinder head replaced. It's driveable, but i'm still a bit nervous driving it just in case something goes wrong. Let's just assume that the problem is a cracked cylinder head. I am going to be driving it very carefully (probably 80kmh max) and taking ...

Re: NG Pajero- cut my loss????

When I got my car (Feb 2007), it was on 380,000km, but the engine it came with was dead (intercooled 4D56T) which apparantly was something to do with the crank... At that stage, I had an NA shorty (non intercooled 4D56T) with a f__ked up gearbox. I had that engine fitted to the NA in 2005, and back ...

Re: NG Pajero- cut my loss????

Thanks for all your support guys. I really don't want to get rid of my 'little' truck. It's something that I have built myself (sort of) and suits my family just fine. As others will agree, it's no Patrol or Landcruiser, but it still gets me where I need to go and uses less fuel in doing so!

Here's more info on my car: This year I have done the tyres, flywheel, starter, alternator, turbo, intercooler hose and battery. NG Pajero- cut my loss????

G'day, i'm not feeling too good at the moment. I have been preparing my old but reliable turbo diesel Paj for a trip over to WA from Melbourne this month. It's been fitted with a replacement ring gear/flywheel, new starter motor, new alternator. That cost me more than $1000. I then took my car to a ...

Re: ks per tank.

Back when I first fixed up my Holden Drover 1324cc G13A, I used to get as much as 410km per tank (my best fuel economy figures are 8.1L/100km), but now it struggles to get 340km per tank. I've got extractors and 2" exhaust system and 235's (next tyres I want 30x9.5 but no bigger). I'm thinking of ...

My turbo is now re-fitted onto my Paj. As explained to me by may people on this and other forums, I did put all the bearings in engine oil before fitting them back into my turbo. As I expected, for the first minute or so after I had driven with this turbo for the first time, the exhaust turbine ...

I don't know. I noticed that myself. With the second hand turbo I planned to rebuild, there wasn't as much spare thread on that one.

Thanks for the info. Take your carpet out and take it down to the car wash! Start spraying it with the 'tyre and engine cleaner' and then leave it to soak for a minute or two when the credit runs out. After this, spray it with high pressure soap, and then either high pressure or spot free rinse. Your carpet will be as ...

I am restoring a Ford XC ute with the twin headlight grill (like the GXL / Cobra) and the driving lights of these 30 something year old cars are quite often damaged and faded.
