Hi Glen,
This is most likely the result of too little carrier bearing pre-load in the set-up of the diff.
The more torque you put on your axle the more outward force there is on your carrier bearings, and if the pre-load is too light then the diff can actually be forced out of position when the ...

Re: ARB Air locker question
What is the benefit of running 200PSI? Is it faster engagement?
Essentially it is an anti-crash-locking measure. If you flip the locker switch while still under engine power (a.k.a. crash-locking) then the extra pressure will help get the locking gear engaged. If you crash-lock your diff you WILL ...

Re: ARB Air locker question
What is tha max air pressure you can run into a locker before causing problems with orings?
Also what is the usual pressure that the pressure switch cuts out at on a locker only compressor? (little one)
Air Locker O-rings and X-rings are capable far beyond the upper pressure limit set by the ARB ...

Whoa! ...there's allot of info asked for in there.
First of all, axles-aint-axles, and even 2 shafts from the same manufacturer with the same spline count but from 2 different models or years have shown to sometimes use different materials and/or heat treat process yielding varying torque results ...

They didn't have the part I wanted on it's own it was only available in a kit form that cost me I think $40 at the time, which is about one 30th of the cost of a whole locker, I got 1 fitting complete with olive, a piece of pneumatic hose and some other little bits that I didn't need. About $8.00 ...

Re: Chinese Lockers
just because no one make a drive shaft strong enough to do it, doesn't mean it can't be tested to failure point. they just need a new test that can.
TESTING
Torque wise, if we could break it with a shaft then it would still be under development. That is our design parameter. The shaft, any shaft ...

Chinese Lockers
Hi guys,
OK, hopefully some clarification for this thread (in no particular order):
1.
The diffs in that video are Toyota 30spl. We don't make the model we tested in that video any more, we got it back from the shelves of a dealer interstate. We only did that because we wanted everything to be ...

That seal housing hasn't been supplied with our RD64's for several years now, so if you ever use your vehicle hard at all then I would suggest that your diff is not set up too badly (given years of use), so it just might have worn the bearings and lost a little preload over the years.
If you have ...

Thrust Block
The thrust block is not required for front fit.
It is there for semi-float rears where the vehicle came with an OE thrust block.
You can tell it has one if you look inside the OE diff and see axle scrub marks .
Otherwise they are good for propping up that one table leg that's too short. :D

Don't use LSD oil, the friction propertys in the oil used to get the lsd plates to grip wear out the o-ring and the oil will leak up through the air line. The o-ring will last about 3 weeks. Just use standard diff oil 90 weight.

I had one of these installed when I had new lockers put in my 80 series 12 months ago so probably got one of the earlier ones with the lower cut out temp  It was installed by an ARB shop and I was told that it is really only designed for the lockers and not for inflating tyres (and looking at ...

WIRING
I don't mean to sound all work avoidant here...but ARB does sell a complete wiring loom for that compressor that will:
1 - power the compressor with the correct gage of wire
2 - integrate an automotive relay into the switch bank to keep toggle switches and pressure switches from cooking.
