i thought that Australia had more 4x4's per population than any country in the world, second only in total number to the US? work out how many of those 4wds ever need 4wd accessories, and you have part of your answer. there maybe a 50,000 sold, but 10% are actually used for 4wding.

One thing that seems to be common in this thread, is wanting the response and stock on shelf of a big well run company, overstaffed, with call centres taking your call within 3 rings etc, whilst wanting the overhead margins tacked on pricing of a small after hours run from the garage operation ...

price and service.

it's currently MUCH cheaper to import your own goods than buying the same American made product from an Australian distributer. the strong dollar helps.

with a toybox (4.7) and auto t-case gears (2.28 IIRC) and some diff gears.

4.84 x 4.7 x 2.28 x 4.88 = 253.1

top speed would suck with 4.88 diff gears and 4spd.

find yourself a set of NA market 3.73 (cheap, plentiful and strong) diff gears and get better top ...

from your first post i would guess you have a 40 series trans/transfer set up.

if your t-case looks like the orion, it's an early 40/55 t-case. later 40 and 60/70 series have a "split" t-case. i would guess you have an H41 trans.

H55f=5spd

different years of 4spd trans have different output ...

looks like you'll have to make a list of all the options and combinations, to compare cost/effort and results.
add everything up, like propshaft mods, new crossmembers, axle replacement etc... you'll quickly get a good idea of what it will cost.
most common transmission ratios can be found on the ...

you CAN get a toybox for H55F or H41/42 cruiser trans, i have one ;).
problem is marlin has NONE in stock, and who knows when they will have more.

well after repeated phone calls and email, nothing! looks like TJM don't want my $$$.

they have displayed some of the WORST service (or lack) i have ever experienced in Australia. period. i would not recommend TJM in coopers plains, but YMMV.

Im chasing some tyres to fit to my hilux so that i can get it engineered with the biggest tyres i can.

the NCOP states i can go 1.5 times the width of original tyre width and up to 85%of the tyres aspect ratio so that puts me in the 305/85/16 range which equates to 36.5x12.5x16

so the question ...

K= 9 1/2" ring gear

08= 4.11 R&P ratio

2= 2 spider gears, open.


as far as i know, LS would have a 4th digit code of 3 or 5 (2 and 4 spider gear LS, respectively)

There is nothing there that deals with the inner short side U bolt problem. Outboarding springs is not an option for some.

60 axles in a 40 won't work like that in the front, you need to out board the spring hangers. not that ...
