Re: 1HDFTE Landcrusier Convert manual to auto
Since its a manual and the 100 does not come with a TD manual option. It sure did come with a manual option on the HDJ100. But they seem to have a lesser value than the 5sp auto. AFAIK the utes didnt have an auto option with either 1HZ or 1HD-FTE. also my mistake though-I had assumed crikey was ...

Re: 1HDFTE Landcrusier Convert manual to auto
I wouldn't rule out the idea of selling it. They are rare and you could charge 10 grand more for it, and people will come from the otherside of the country to buy it. Then you could by an auto TD with alot less KMs, or a similar one and load up on all the fun bits. Think you'll find its the other ...

Its a D4D and it doesnt have an intercooler? Whatever you do dont let them screw around fitting stuff to it til its running right. I dont think these run like the old days, ie if the turbo dies it continues pumping in lots of juice and hence black smoke. There'll be some stupid sensor compensating ...

all the 100 series are IFS torsion bar. All 105 series are solid axle. GXL and above is only available in 100 series. 100series was supplied with 4.5 litre petrol, 4.7 litre V8, 4.2 TD and 4.2NA (1HD). 105 series had only 1-HD motor. AFAIK, correct me if I am wrong! You're wrong, on the last bit at ...

Hilux swivel hubs
Can anyone point me in the direction of instructions for shimming and setting up the swivel hubs etc on a LN106. The manual doesnt go into it, just says "special tools required" and give it to a dealer!

there has been issues with the 2UZ in the Landcruiser using the old style mixers. Backfiring on startup has caused catastrophic damage. I was looking at buying a V8 and started a couple of threads for info and found several cases (firsthand, not a "friend of a cobbers brother etc") The go is to use ...

I was thinking more of the engines themselves, the Toyota V8s come in various configorations, not all of them common in aus, nor the parts for the conversion of the shelf (correct me if I am wrong please!) Not sure where the overheating problem comes from, as they (3.8 V6) have long since proven to ...

LN106 engine swap
Im tossing up doing a swap on my Hilux. Options would be either a 1KZ (who has done one?) or the venerable V6 Holden and use the auto also as it has better ratios in overdrive and put it on gas. Thought about the Lexus V8 but it seems like a bit of a hassle. I know the V6 has been done a million ...
