Handheld UHF

The old man is going on a trip out to the Flinders and wants a UHF for a little added safety while on the road. Looking for something that fits the following: - 5W output - handheld - charge from cigarette socket (this is the bit I am struggling to find) Looked at both GME and ICOM, but I don't ...

Straight off the battery, fused, with very thick wire (I think they say 6mm2 or something). The normal wiring in your car won't be thick enough and will most likely melt the insulation - 3 ways are VERY hungry on 12V.

I bought mine from Springers at Strathpine.

They may be a little cheaper at Fridge and Solar on the Coast, but maybe not worth the drive.

It is the 90 A/h you are chasing (N70 size).

Power Consumption

May seem like a silly question, but there is method in my madness:

How much power does an interior car light burn?

The reason for the question, my camper has a little interior light that holds your typical 5w globe. Just want to know how much it would consumer if I left it on overnight.

Thanks.

Nissan 4.8 Petrol

I only just found out:

1) They have removed the sub tank from the 4.8 petrol (only comes with 95L main)

2) No more manual option in the 4.8 petrol - AUTO only

I can understand the auto only thing, but why remove the subtank?

Must have been discontinued in the Series III. I know the ones you mean, the Subaru still use them (as do many others).

I bought the ARB equivalent. Wouldn't recommend it as the material they use seems to get mouldy on the outside after use and then storing. Sat Nav + Camera?

Does anyone know who makes a Sat Nav that you can plug a camera in to use as a rear vision camera?

I've seen one in a 4x4 mag @ $1,200 - any cheaper?

Doesn't need to be super fancy, as the camera is really only to line up a towball and a trailer.

I've seen someone who made a fridge slide with built in tilt function, so when extended, the fridge tilts down for easy access. I think they used a hinge of some type and then cable to stop the fridge from tilting too far. Looked pretty good.

2) How many k's on it?

You'll have many happy years of motoring in that.
