hey cheers mate, ghod the things i had to do to my GQ to get 35's to run smoothly! lol

So from memory, is 2" lift legal? I just dont wanna have a sweet lookin car to go up the arse of someone and find out its not covered by insurance, preferably id like to go more than 2inches, but if thats all ...

yea i re-submitted the form for their approval so hopefully it goes through and i get a statement of requirements, only other thing i was thinking is that i might not be able to get the government grant because the car isnt registered, does anyone know the details regarding the cash they give you?

cheers for ya input, not a bad suggestion but i do still want some lift. Rear springs in front is a good idea, i didnt even know you could do that? One question though, if you reccomnd leaving it low why do you have a spring and body lift in your truck?

Hi there i was hoping to get other peoples opinions on what i should do with my hilux. At the moment its just sitting in the carport as a "project", it was a trade in when i sold my GQ.

As it arrived, it has 35" MTRs, 4" body lift (on top of original spacers) 253 V8, all these flashy crome bits ...

spring and shackle length won't mean squat when it comes to your bigger rubber when it's flexed up... when your at maximum stuff, your tire is in the same place, no matter how much spring lift you put on it

I dont get that? doesnt more spring lift mean more articulation and travel, generally ...

Just a thought, the 4 inch body lift wasn't done for the v8 conversion?

seems odd to have 4 inch in the body and not much in the suspension, considering effort was done to put in a v8

Hmm thats a point, but it seems to be a pretty common mod to put a 253 in a hilux and i dont really see too many ...

yea but from what i have worked out, thats the rules for modified vehicles that havent been approved by a qualified engineer. The engineer is stating that the modifications dont make the car unsafe or unroadworthy, if you had an engineers cetificate for all your mods and been approved to drive on ...

Ill definately be doing all this stuff after its get regod, not getting it engineered its not my everyday car so its not going to get seen by too many cops, plus i never even got pulled over in my GQ!

Moving the front diff forward looks like a good idea, gotta do more research on how to do that ...

sweet batcho101, i just went and had a browse through superior engineering and they have some really cool stuff! like the relocated shock mounts and those shackles and stuff, i need to do a lot more research before i start spending up on the parts!

i think ill just cut the body blocks down to 3 ...

oh really, that sucks maybe ill cut these body blocks down to 3" not 2", oi have no idea what a torque rod lol! but i can find that out, if i only went a 2" suspension lift and 2" shackles that wouldnt make it drive like a real POS??
