I have a 1990 4.2 LT petrol only Maverick. For a non technophile like myself, is the installation a DIY possibility, or do you recommend an autoelectrician to instal? And once installed, how do you check and adjust the dwell, as the magnets are fixed to the distributor shaft? Or is the dwell angle ...

Anyone out there? G'day. Can anyone recommend a carby specialist in Sydney NSW? Someone who knows the TB42 carby inside-out, and is not going to try to hit me for a complete rebuild if the problem is something small? Also, apparently there is a simple modification to convert the vacuum secondaries ...

GQ: TB42 Petrol Carby Idle Adjustment
Can someone please post a pic of the TB42 (petrol) idle adjustment screw.
I'm not sure which one it is, and my idle seems too low (500 RPM when in gear/auto).
And what is the correct idle RPM for an auto in gear?
Thanks.

TB42 GQ Carby
According to my mechanic, my TB42 carby needs a good overhaul. Do I spend the money getting the carby fully reconditioned, or do I spend a similar amount upgrading to a TB42e fuel injection setup from a wreck (ie. manifold, injectors, ECU, high pressure fuel pump etc)? Has anyone done this ...
Thanks Jason for the straightforward answer. It's very easy to get the clock out and there are no secret tricks. Just start by undoing the screws on the console, there are a few in plain view on the sides, plus a few up under the face vents (you have to tilt tge vents back to see the screws) and a ...
GQ CLOCK
How hard is it to remove the clock for re-soldering? Is it as simple as removing the facia (undo the screws I guess) and unplugging the wiring, or are there any 'tricks-of-the-trade' to know about?
Is it the same with the radio/cassette?
Cheers

Hey Brunsy. I'd like to follow every turbo move you make. I have a 1990 TB42 Maverick running petrol only, and need a bit more power. Assuming you are going to a 'blow-through' configuration, how are you planning to seal the carby? Or are you planning something different? Have you thought about a ...

Hey Dave.
Would it be possible for you to email me a pic of your locking bar (or post a copy on the forum) so I can show the wreckers? My email is:

Dicky seat problems - help please
G'day. I have purchased a 3rd row bench seat from a late model GQ to install into my LWB 1990 Maverick. Everything bolts up perfectly except... Now I find that the rear locking mechanism is different, and that I need to change the locking 'bar' in the boot to a later model. However no one at the ...

As the ad says "...where do you get it?"
I have seen pics of the occasional GQ with the BIG fibreglass flares F&R but no one seems to know who makes or sells them?
Any ideas please?

Re: Rims
We often take the scouts onto the beach, so the wider tyres at 18psi are the go. And as we have already purchased the 31x10.5R15 tyres, we just need the rims only. So is $55 for a new rim good, or can anyone help? (I will take your advice however and keep the narrow 16" rims for camping and rough ...

Thanks everyone. Would love to find a set of factory 15x7 rims , but all the ones I have looked at are either rusty, bent, or both. And freight is expensive. Anyone? If you never intend to run bigger than 31x10.5x15 go the 7". That's what the factory fitting was. Factory offset on the GQ wide wheel ...

What size rims?
We want to run 31x10.5R15 A/T's on the scouts 1990 Maverick wagon. Currently has the narrow 16x6 rims.
Should we purchase 15x7's ($55 each) or 15x8's ($60 each)? Only $5 difference per rim (ROH Trak Australia).
According to the tyre charts, 31x10.5R15 tyres can be used on either size.

GQ Patrol front grill. Easy to get off (just turn those little square plastic lugs to release), but IMPOSSIBLE to get back on. How can you line up all the square lugs at the same time?? And even if you attach them to the grill first, there are so many that you will miss/lose/break more than a few ...
