I know engine conversions are fun, as are the finished product, but i would seriously consider the overall cost to outcome ratio on a Duramax swap. Its easy, just grab the diff's, the mig and make a start, all the information is in those threads, if you really need the step by step, maybe the job is a little much ;)

Last year at the Cliffhanger in Cobar it was rough, dude out heyfield? has it, but coilovers, gen3 stroker Gq rear, GU front, Nissan box and transfer.......it was still fast though

Sounds like you really know your stuff. A few things to do yet till i'm ready for bigger tyres. Have you done any disco engine conversions?
