Hello, Datsun people, the time has come to move across to your darkside, I'm planning on moveing on a fair amount of my rover stuff....10 years accumulation.....and build a GU with a 6.6 Duramax as my sole toy
I'm just wondering if there is anyone from South east melbourne subourbs through to east coast vic who has done so, I'm just after someone to take me for a hack, box of booze for the pleasure of showing off of course
I already have another 2 that are after side by side conversions and hopefully a fella who inports Harleys from the US that can source motor/transmission combos
I've completed many engine conversions before, even stinky nissans
So leads anybody? I know there are a few around

Re: Duramax
Word is he's on his 3rd rear diff, and recently the car tried to turn itself into a campfire.....
I know engine conversions are fun, as are the finished product, but i would seriously consider the overall cost to outcome ratio on a Duramax swap.
Would be hell cheaper and nearly as effective to turn up the screws on a 4.2 (with the exception of fuel economy I guess)

My friends aren't holding me back..... I'm pulling 'em forward.
Re: Duramax
Yes and no, a duramax will tow a 3.5 tonne boat all day and because of the torque available will do it very easily. A leaned on 4.2 will still tow the same boat but will be working hard due to only having %50 of the torque of the duramax. A worked 4.2 will make a great tourer and will easily sit on the speed limit everywhere. If you have the momey go for it but how fast do you need to go.
