duno from experience havent had one before
if you go auto locker you will bust more cvs than the difference between air & auto lock arb air is the only way to go

Don't want to start another auto vs air/pro locker argument, but I have had an auto locker since 2004 and never busted a CV. I am ...

Looks like a good buy. Got to love the DX for it's simplicity, (vinal floors etc).

97 GQ alternator TD42

Anyone know what the amp rating is on 97 model GQ TD42 alternator? Yes it's the newer model with the newer timing cover (being 97 model).

Yes search is my friend. But only found out from search, that which I already knew, eg vac is different etc. But not ampage.

Surely it's not worth the money/hassle, either spend the $$ on lockers or sell the car and buy one that suits your needs better.

Yeah, I'm thinking of the IFS front end too. I also hear that the "on-road" feel is so much better than the live axel setup!
That's what all the 100 series GXL boys tell me up here lol...

Ok, I put extractors on my 97 GQ TD42 and noticed only the smallest amount of top end increase, bit ...

DX is generally to be avoided imho, especially the early ones, as they have no carpet, are missing some gauges from the instrument panel, and are just shitty looking. Some also have drum brakes at rear which you definitely don't want. They do have little quarter windows on the front doors which I ...

Ok, it's a diesel. The Actuator has a Vacuum hose coming out of it joining onto a line that comes from a small black barrell on the passenger side, back corner of the engine bay. Sorry to sound like a newbie, but this is my first Patrol and I'm still learning what and where everything is. It's a big ...

cruise control

Hey all.

I need some advice about my crusie control http://www.actionimports.com.au/CM7TH.jpg . It's the Command model shown in the pic.

My problem is it won't set to anything higher than about 103 kph. I called a few people and they said that's the way they are made ...

Cape trip

Hey all,

I've got a 97 patrol GQ. Air locker up front and Stocky LSD in the rear. My question is do I need to get muddies to do a Cape trip? I have 6 (2 spares on carriers) near new 7.50 / 16 Dunlop Road grippers on there at the moment. The tyres are on splitties so changing for a flat is no ...

Tyre Carrier question

G'day all,

Need some help. I've attached some pics of my GQ 2 showing the tyre carrier. The stock tyre carrier is still on but I want to change it to an after market job same as the other. The truck is ex-telstra. I can't find any plates or labels to identify the carrier.

It would be great if ...

Hey there, my coily has 6inch spring lift (also had 3 inch body lift, but this has been taken out) , I live in QLD. Liam, Greg and others know this white coily hardtop, I got it from Bozzie, it's the one that sat on it's nose for about 20 seconds at the Nissan Trials a few years ago. There is a pic ...
