Here's another really stupid one. The pick-up tube on the overflow/cath can sometimes comes undone on the older Patrols. Happens to mine regularly, have fixed it with a cable tie. What happens then is that the catch can overflows because when you switch off and engine cools it can't suck the water ...

So your loosing most of the water in 200 - 250 km's ? I would have to cracked pipe or radiator, that seems to be alot when you cnat find where its going. If you leave it for a few days will it still loose water ? Sounds stupid but its always the last place you check. I just got the radiator ...
