TD42 Dyno Results
TD42 Dyno Results
For anyone whos interested finally got my GU on the Dyno.
Results were impresive (I Thought).
173.8 KW on a stinking hot day.
Torque is in newtons (about 5700)
Only mods are roller turbo, good intercooler and pump mods.
If Turps reads this post the graph up for me please.

Sounds like the bar needs to be lifted, a lot of 150 -170 rwkw diesels around, who has higher rwkw dyno sheets?
It would be good to see a dyno chart, but great results sparky

Ball bearing turbo upgrades for factory turbo vehicles. Got a diesel question just ask.
Home of the twin turbo shorty and many 150rwkw+ patrols.

Jee i hope i can get at least 160KW out of my TB42 turbo running a garrett TO4E turbo with tunned length manifold and 50mm wastegate and 3" dump pipe and 3" mandrel exhaust running on LPG thru a full Gas Research system.. running 10PSI..
I thought 160kw wasn't really going to be in my leauge but that's a awersome KW rating mate..
Can anyone post a dyno readout or what PSI there running etc and what mods so others can follow..
Cheers
Rick.

Re: what
As Sparky said we used a safari cast manifold and a 400 hp rated Garrett ball bearing turbo ( cant remember pt no, can look it up if you want) and it was over 30 degrees in the dyno cell when we were running it.tuf045 wrote:what size roller turbo? is it on the standard gu nissan manifold?
It was also done on 35" bfgs and running standard ( 4.1:1 ) diff ratios.
This truck is fairly simple and has more development left in it so we might have a better figure soon. A cooler day would have helped a fair bit but you don't always get ideal conditions.
The torque being in Newtons is a pain but to give you a comparison a standard factory turbo TD42 may post around the 2500 Newtons mark.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY....
This should be your Nm reading (assuming the Dyno Dynamics roller is 217mm diameter) ...
5700 x 0.1085 = 618.45Nm
Pulled from another forum - http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/archive/ind ... 58483.html
5700 x 0.1085 = 618.45Nm

You get this figure by muliplying the Tractive effort by 0.1085, which is the conversion from Newtons (tractive effort, or Motive Force) to Newton Metres on a Roller of a Diameter of 217mm, which probably would of been the diameter for the dyno you were tested on.
The Roller Torque is what is used to Calculate the Power at the Rollers, the Tractive Effort is actually a calculation as well, based off the Roller Torque.
KRiS
Actually i would multiply 5700N * 0.4445m which is the distance from the edge of a 35" tyre to the centre(T= Force X distance)
and then divede by 4.1 (the diff ratio) which gives 617.9NM
Yes i know this is almost the same but that is just a fluke. If he had the same figures on 33" tyres his torque would have been 582NM

GQII Patrol YAY!!
Is this a petrol or diesel? It has a very flat torque line for a diesel.
Got graphs of boost and air fuel ratios as well. All in all a very good effort. Now to put it down the 1/4 mile and see what it can do.

From what I know. Its a std Factory turbo motor. With a new turbo and intercooler fitted. Anyone want the orginal, its still sitting on my spare room floor and its for sale. It also has a modded injector pump, 4" inlet with toyota aircleaner.
