got a turbo diesel 4.2 patrol with a high mount turbo. got my 3 inch exhaust fitted up today which was all good. however i was hoping for it to be all the way up to the turbo but instead they stuck with the standard turbo dynamics dump pipe which from memory is around 2 3/4 inch diameter, then it goes out to 3 from there. they told me they originally had planned on doing it all the way up there but decided it wouldn't make really much of a benifit cause they would have to squash the pipe for it to fit which would restrict.

what do you think? i'm willing to find someone else to do the dump pipe if you think its worth the effort. cheers, thanks for your time
josh
depends on the outlet size of the turbo
if it anly gas about a 2.5" hole it will be ok as u will develop good gas speed if it has a 3" hole it will be ristricted

On the exhaust side do you see anything wrong with the setup above.

yes it is a cat and it is not legal to move the position of a cat all you can do is get a large dump with a better cat in it

What are your thoughts on a good cat back (for now) system for these...have you done any work on these before? The system splits
I think before the diff, then into two bid ass mufflers down back.

Wouldn't want too much of a racket, particularly not droney on the
highway...but I guess there'd be good gains to be had like with most
turbo vehicles?

Or should I just bight the bullet and go turbo back straight off the bat?

Cheers...look forward to your advice mate.

Hi
I have a 4.5L patrol on dual fuel, what exhaust would i need to get it sounding a little better but not too much droning and a little extra performance? Would extractors have any benifit? How much would a system cost? thanks!

I'm picking up a 1995 3l TD surf on Tuesday.

Has stock exhaust on it atm..

Im wondering what the costs will be to wack a decent system on it... Not overly fussed about the noise, I've got extractors on my hilux now that are loud.

Probably run stock boost on it now (may change it later) so would be after a flexible option as far as size goes.

The surf guys seem to run straight through with a hotdog on the end..

Not sure what my options are :)

Oh... and since you are in croydon, you'll be doing the work :) (Bloke here at work has given you rave reviews as well)

Currently building a 1.3l zook and its time to start to think about the exhaust.

Just wondering what size pipe to use ? I will be fitting extractors as well.

Its more a trailer queen that DD so noice dosent realy bother me that much, I am looking for the biggest power gains possible.

Thanks in advance, Nick

absolutly not this is perfect but rember to use a large srtaight throuhg muffler in the front ad another 1 in the rear or it will be to loud

this will not hurt valves rember you are now running forced air not normaly asperated so you have higher pressure to get rid of exhaust gasses

there is not a lot of room to run a twin so u will possiably have to run a 2.5" single 2 cats 1on each side then into a single large straight through mufflers

4.5s respond well to extractors and 2.5" system if made right they are not to loud

extractors and a 2" straight through system rember if you go to big on a small you will loose all your low down torque and then it wont pull the skin of a rice pudding

hi

I have a Tb42 turbo now and i want it to make a fair bit of noise and sound good..

I'm going to have a 3" mandrel system it's on a GQ patrol short wheel base..

Guy at the exahust shop said a straight thru muffler will be quiter then a muffler with a plate or something inside it..

He suggested a race magnum for something ..

Just want your oppion what muffler to use for maxium flow for the turbo and as much noise as possible as it will be alot quiter anyway i think..

Thanks

Rick.
