Maxxis Bighorn
Who on this forum uses Maxxis Bighorns? How do you find them? and how much did you pay? the sizes im looking at is a 33 or a 35 and anything in between if they make them.
we're here for a good time, not for a long time
u guys who are running bighorns.... sorry for the hijack but i eyeballed one mounted on a rim at a tyre shop the other day and thought that the tread footprint looked noticably smaller than an equivalent sized tyre in a different brand..( silverstone from memory)... is this the case?
i was lookin at a 285 75 16...
tyre guy said it was because it was a 6 inch rim and he would be right to an extent but still looked thin on the tread to me... measured it with my hand and i' reckon it was about an inch narrower on the contact part of the tyre...maybe half to three quarter of an inch really...
any thoughts?

i had a set on my old 60 couldnt of been happier with them hooked up real well on the dirt gravel and rocky stuff great on the road do get noisy but hey your gonna get that with any mudder i sold them to my6 mate who was running mongrels and he swore by them now converted him to bighorns he was really impressed by them id reccomend them to anyone
i sold mine because i went to creepy crawlers

My 32's were $215 fitted and balanced if that helps, if I'd chased around some more I probablycould have gone them a little cheaper but this was local.
I also found the bighorns to b very close to the stated size. A 32" is 31.9" etc.
Here's a pic of the 32x11.5 next to the 31x10.5 Nankang Mudstar that came off. Both are on rims here, the 31" on 15x7 and the 32" on 15x8
Cheers

A 285 75 16 should be mounted on an 8 inch wheel. Whoever put thatkevdog wrote:u guys who are running bighorns.... sorry for the hijack but i eyeballed one mounted on a rim at a tyre shop the other day and thought that the tread footprint looked noticably smaller than an equivalent sized tyre in a different brand..( silverstone from memory)... is this the case?

wheel and tyre together is'nt a tyre fitters A-hole. When measured on the
correct wheel the Maxxis product is very happy. The style of tread does
make these tyres "look" thin, I do agree.
sounds about right if you ask me shop around could get em a bit cheaper i bought mine when i worked in a tyre shop got em for 250 each so do some bargaining you might be abkle to get a bit better than thattommyk wrote:Just an update, ive been quoted for the bighorns in a 35 for $315 a tyre, or the trepador in a 35 for the same, the 33 was 280, do you guys reckon these prices are alright?

bloke did explain that the tyre was mounted like this as a customer request to fit a new hilux... not something i would do but anyway...anyhoo as i have been shopping around i have found some competitive prices on mickey t mtx's and they look better...perform? will find out i guess... $315 a tyre for 285/75/16...
