Age of engine for conversion

I have been told that when doing an engine conversion the donor engine must be newer than the car to be legal unless you run it on straight gas.

I believe this is an emissions thing and it is so the emissions are the same or better than before.

Can anyone confirm if this is correct in NSW ? Could I get an older model engine than my 94 model car engineered ?

Try to keep at least one wheel on the ground at all times !!!!!! (unless you want to do a jump....... thats different)

not quite, the engine must comply wioth the polutuon requirements of the year of manafacture of the vehicles the engine will be fitted to

So I take it that means I do not need to be concerned with the age of a Lexus V8 I might purchase to put in my 94 runner.

as I unbderstand it nop, but you will need the polution gear form a newer model if there was changes etc, best to talk to an engineer as to what they will want

no probs, if brookvale is closr for you give john at consulmotive a call, he is pretty good, has dome alot of 4wdrives and has had a lot to do with streeters as well, used to have a collum in one of the v8 street machine mags

From my understanding, here in VIc the motor has to be of the same vintage or newer to comply with EPA stuff, or it has to be put on gas. I found this out while trying to put an older V8 into a later model E-series Falcon.

almost :D

motor can be from any era.... providing it comply's to the relevant ADR's of your car and the % of hydro carbons (EPA test) isnt any higher than your car in its original condition

older motor = more emmissions = straight gas to pass :D
