hilux exhaust ??????????????????????????????

Post by peeko22 »

just wondering i have a 3.0td hilux with a 2.5 exhaust from the cat back just so i can get the turbo sound really .

but i wanna know will is make any diffenerence getting another one but direct from the turbo? i have heard from other posts your turbo spools quicker and exhausts temps get a bit lower .... is it worth the money? i only have a factory turbo with no plans of upgrading. any info would be a big help

I had A 04 3.0TD hilux with a 2.5 inch from the turbo all the way back, you get the whistle when under throttle, but found it to be a bit to loud on the longer trips. Does also help with the fuel econamy a touch as the exhaust gases are escaping quicker I spose. Gazza!

You will find that a 3.0TD doesn't have a cat.

Run a 3" dump straight from the back of the turbo.(Make a new flange or I have one $40)
Follow with 3" half the length of the exhaust with a 3" flex joint installed.
From 3" go into a offset straight through mufler and exit 2.5" to the end.
Make all mandrel
All good.Not to loud.
Did run a straight through muffler but drone a bit.Offset fixed it up.

I run this exact same setup on my 2.8 Lux with turbo except mine is 3" all the way.
Almost as quiet as a standard non turbo lux but sounds like a truck when you give it a good boot full :)
