Pitman arm removal

I'm removing Sierra steering system to put in vit setup but can't seem to get the sierra piman arm to budge from the steering box shaft. I have tried belting the snot out of it with no luck.

What is the best mehtod?? Heat from a butane torch??

Any advice would be appreciated.

yep, heat from a torch.. remember.... heat.. not melt.. i just did mine recently and it worked no problem. ( gotta thank my boss for that)

Try a 3 jaw gear puller

Ended up just pulling the TRE of the drag link so i could pull out the sierra steering box. Should have p/s done by the weekend

I bought one from supercheap and found the gap was too big for the factory arm and ended snapping two of them, where is the jaws on the gear puller actually pivot inwards the more the bolt is done up. Thats just my experience though

I have one of these and the same thing for separating tie rods. My tie rod one is like you say - a bit wide to fit properly.

The trick is to wind it up till its about to break or slip off, and then get out your best BFH and smack either the pitman arm on the side right next to the spline, or the end of the screw in the puller.

Use the gear puller, the supercheap pitman arm pullers are rubbish, i broke one, tighten the puller up reasonably tight and give the arm a few taps with the hammer. note, don't sit under the arm as you are tapping it, mine flew off and missed the jewels by an uncomfortably close margin
