tb42 ignition woes
tb42 ignition woes
hey guys i did a search and was unable to find any good answers for my problem.
being a general tinkerer i think i have tinkered too far in the sence i have removed my dissy from the car not remembering the implications until trying to start it next time when my timing is now miles out of wack.
just after some info on how to reset my timing to get it operational , i deperatly need it running by tuesday as it is booked in for rego.

You need to take the dizzy out again, next you need to rotate the engine till the TDC mark on the crank pulley aligns with the mark on the timing case. This will get Cylinder 1 on TDC. You can then set the dizzy up to the no.1 spark plug lined up and re-install the Dizzy, this will get it back to normal. you can then time the engine
AA's for Quitters
MyGQ is right the only thing is TDC happens twice per engine cycle as the engine is a 4 stroke and the distributor rotates at 1/2 engine speed, to find the right cycle remove no. one plug and have someone crank the engine in short bursts untill you feel compression against your finger that you stick on the plug hole, stop when you feel compression and wind the engine to the TDC marker. If you wind to 10 degrees Before TDC and with the points exposed and the ignition on you can twist the distributor untill the points arc. Lock the dist. here and you should be within 2 degrees of the correct std timing.
