body lift dramas

Post by dogeatdog01 »

Hi,
Im currently installing a 2" body lift to my 88' SWB GQ.
I have undone all 8 bolts holding the body to the chassis and have removed rad shroud, loosened brake/clutch lines, loosened steering spline, etc and it should now lift off the body.

BUT!

When i put 2 jacks under the sills and try to lift it, the body wont seperate from the chassis and it lifts the whole car up as a result.

Any ideas?

Just had another thought.
Would it be the fact that I havent undone the seatbelt bottom bolts cause it not to seperate from the chassis?

Didn't have to undo seat belt bolts for mine. Have you taken the bolts out or just the nuts off them? Also undo the fuel filler hose clamps.

if you have crossmember spacers it could be the clutch line pulling tight as there is a bracket on the inner gaurd n one eather on chassis or gearbox

Its all good now, seems that the chassis lifted for the first inch and then seperated from the body as I kept jacking it up further.
