I would hazard a guess of around the $400-00 mark if you get it from a wreckers with a warranty.

cheers thanks for the reply:

Are these 1st generations pretty popular- meaning are they still on the road/trails?

How about where to get parts for these injection pumps - look to dealer or ....
Specifically I seek a pickup sensor for the tach signal - they are no longer available here

Cheers :

These engines are getting old now,not to many being rebuilt any more. The injector pump's are Nippon Denso and a lot of parts like the sensor your after are used in lots of different pumps from that manufacturer ,you could try a diesel specialist most are agents for Nippon Denso etc.
Where abouts are you from?

I am in the desert of U S A - so I may have to source these parts cross the ponds, maybe

Good to know these are NipponDenso - just Denso now

I have pulled a schematic from the 2LT IP - for the pickup sensor part no. .it says refer to diagram 83-01 - dont see that one in any other schematic

still might be able to find one here if I can get a part no to cross refrence

Cheers ya:

G'day Roy Batty:
Have you tried Specter Off-Road,inc. Chatsworth,California U.S.A.
Ph 818 882 1238 fax 818 882 7144.
the owners name is Marvin and he comes to Australia once or twice a year to buy Toyota 4wd parts to sell in the US he is one of the biggest s/h Toyota 4wd parts suppliers in the US and has been getting a lot of diesels to take home so may be worth a call.
The pick up sensor your after would probably be the same as a 2L or 3L the pumps are much the same for all diesels but the turbo pumps are calibrated different and have a few extra bits bolted on .
Hope I've been of some help ,Hooroo.

Cheers mate :

I only contact Specter as a last resort - i usually cannot afford what he offers and for these specific items I have , in the past HAD to locate them myself

No worries - I rather enjoy sourcing parts this way

So far I have contacted Denso USA , a VW diesel place - I hear the VE Denso is very similar to teh Bosch VE
and seeking a place in your country deals with Diesel Service to see about locating this Pick Up Sensor

I have heard of Diesel Australia Brisbaine- I am looking to see if I can contact them via Email

I am in no great hurry , so that is good

might you know of some one there I might contact ?

I have also contacted VE China about this sensor - dunno about dealing with them , so far I have had less than good luck dealing with Chinese companies

Enjoy the week:

Cheers;
