Thermo Fans on 5ltr GQ?
Thermo Fans on 5ltr GQ?
i have a GQ lwb with the 5.0 efi conversion and was thinking of running thermo fans
the water pump has just sh!t itself, its the 2nd water pump in the 5 years the motor has been in. im thinking maybe the spacer for the engine fan is putting extra stress on the water pump.
i dont have any heat problems so if im not happy with thermos i can always go back to the old setup.
i did a search and looks like most people run the AU twin thermo fans. a mate has a davis craig 16"?? he wants to sell me but im thinking twins would be better?
anybody got any ideas, pros and cons about what setup i should run? especially from people running the same motor?

yeah they dont really like water and mud
i got this from GQ/MAV bible section. it might help:
When you install OEM electric fans with the CORRECT controller ( does not have to be the Davis craid POS, ( just install 2 line temp switchs to come on at different temps), run the correct rated relays, correct wire, with a auxillary OFF switch for water work, you cant go wrong.
this is how i want to set mine up when i get around to it
but does anyone know if this affects air con??

Hi there y'all
Just curious , just finished putting a smick 3.5ltr Rover V8 (dynoed @ 550 rwhp) in my GU. Want to run thermo's cos i plan to comp FCUK out of it & now with all the extra Ponies under the bonnet I need an Awsome cooling system to back it up. I realised the standard engine fan set up was drawing too many ponies from my right foot when a new Clubsport R8 blew me off at the lights yesterday.
Anyhoo, my question is what is the difference between the AU & BA fans?

You know how I know you're ...?
I've got EL Falcon fans on mine. Fitt very nicly on 3 core Patrol radiator. Mine are controlled by Link ecu and have an override switch to turn them off for water crossing etc.
93 Nissan Pathfinder / Terrano Turboed VH45, GQ Trans and T-case, coil overs, hydraulic winch and fair bit of other stuff. (Currently a pile of parts in the workshop)
First off, a nice aerodinamic clubsport against ur Patrol which has the aerodinamics of a brick! no matter wat engine u got it aint ever gonna keep with a clubsport and secondly there is no way on this earth u are gettin 550 rwhp from a 3.5 rover, group "A" racing back in the 80's only just broke the 300 hp at the flywheel, i have a 5.0ltr rover and that gets 340bhp at the flywheel so not bein nasty but those figures are totally unacheivable.
