60 series axel swivel housing

Has anyone had their swivel housing re hard chromed, would like to get mine done but hard chromers want only the swivel housing and not the axel housing.

so is there anyone out there that does this sort of work in melbourne.

Is yours pitted?

If so just go buy another one, they're cheap as chips.

Yeah....just get a later model one, the're laminated aswell. Should
pick one up for $150~$200 tops..........

L/C swivel housings aren't hard chromed there just machined the swivel housing is only supposed to have grease in it so a "wiper" is used instead of an oil seal.Old Land Rovers had hard chromed swivel housings because there front axles used uni's instead of cv's and were oil filled.
I've cleaned up lot's of L/C swivel housings with a file and emery paper to get the rust pitting out of them if there severely pitted there junk but they usually clean up ok.

thanks you all for the information,

did buy a replacement but was not a good one cv on drivers side would not go in ( it was bent ). have got anoter and looks ok just thought i would try to get it top notch before i do a rebuild and replacement with teh unit on my beloved 60 series
