Diff Ratios on Air lockers

Post by dawg runner »

Gday,

Purchased some ARB Lockers a while back for my runner.

How do i confirm the ratios that are in them?

Do i read it off the crown wheel or something like that?

2nd question is i am putting a commodore v6 with Auto in the runner as well and eventually 33 inch tyres. What ratios would be ideal for this application or does it not matter?

Thanks in advance.

Odds are 4.3 or 4.5, these are the most common hilux ratios.

Turn the crownwheel one turn and count how many times the pinion flange turns.

I would have thought that 4.3 would have been fine- should be good for about 2400 rpm cruise at 100kph. Not super sure though, might be a little higher.

Count the number of teeth on the crownwheel and the teeth on pinion gear, the devide them..

Eg 41/9 = 4.55

there should be numbers stamped on the side of the crown wheel to tell you what you have
