life of muddies

i travel round 80klms a day on the highway just wanderin if its good for my bfg muddies???

starting to see sum small missin chunks and little splits and not sure if its the highway use or the offroad use on the weekends

same as mine.
ive done nearly 40k on mine and they still look fine.
there are a few chunks taken out here and there buy its always after a days wheeling.
its all up to if you think the expense of the tyres and the life expectancy is ok. for me it doesnt bother me if i get 2years out of a set, but others might expect to get a lot more?

I've got a set sittin' at my family's place that have over 100,000km on them and still just roadworthy. They were on my Feroza. On a heavier vehicle, so long as you look after them, you should get at least 60,000km out of 'em.

I put a set of 35 BFG muds on my Bundera in 1989 and replaced them 2 years ago, well over 100,000 K's and even though the car see's no off road and is powered by a 2.4L 4 cyl engine I can't complain about that.

I have had BFG muds since the early 80's and always been happy with them, my only complaint is they start to get noisy when they hit the half worn mark and then start to wander as they wear even more.
Very happy with them.

if thats what YOU are seeing then you have answered your own question... Everyone elses car/driving style/conditions are different.

It also depends on what pressures you are running on the highway. The higher the pressure you run on the highway, the better the mileage you will get out of them. But you will also feel every bump and twig that you run over.

Saying that, BFG Mud terrains are a hard compound muddie and for a larger 4wd you should be getting atleast 60,000 - 80,000 kms with only weekend offroad use.

i have bfg muds on mine, and i drive about 80km to and from work each day aswell, they only had half tread left when i got them, and 30,000km later the rears are JUST still legal, and thats with offroad use aswell.

i figure if u dont mind buying new tires a lil sooner, and if u can put up with the noise, then there is no probs running muds onroad.

if you have overly aggressive tires tho, then that may be dif....

At the time I had another Land Cruiser with 35 muds and it made sense to keep them all the same, but it was never an issue.
My first set of BFG's were A/T's and they didn't seem to last any longer than the muds and I guess that went into the equation as well.

I do that everytime I hear a new rattle..... radios' pretty much maxed out now

i know one is one of the bushes in one of the control arms that squeeks a little here and there

I turn up the stereo to drown out all my noises. Now my stereo has a cracked speaker, so it makes a new noise too.

last time i had my radio up loud i missed hearing a noise and nearly blew up my engine... as a result iv gotta buy another vehicle to take the engine from it. (damn shame, im gunna have a 2nd 4wd to play with)

I am very happy with the "on road" performace as well, for once I just couldn't be bothered trying to have a sensible coversation with someone who starts a sentence with "derrr"

I have owned BFG muddies and MTR's, but never used them to the grave. I know MTR's are a lot softer compound than the BFG, what are people getting out of their's? I have heard around 60k but some 1st hand reviews would be good.
