I have an 04 Hilux and have been told a 3inch exhaust will improve the power and fuel consumption, what are your thoughts.

DO IT! i have a 2.8 intercooled turbo and the best thing i did was put a 3 inch dump pipe of the turbo and straight through with no mufflers or anything just out the back. if you can with stand a little noise not to much you will be very greatful. The quicker you get it out the better with the diesel's. my 2 cents. hope you make the right descision let me know.

Well I had the pipe done, the bloke who installed it for me use an adaptor plate ordered from melbourne that bolted onto the bum end of the turbo, he then made a new 3in pipe to suit the plate.
All I can say is, if you are considering doing this, GO FOR IT!.
The power is much better.

you wouldn't know where the plate came from, I'm about to do similar to my 3Lturbo soon.

Not sure, it is the same plate they use for the prado though, I'll find out where he ordered it from and let you know.
