I am looking for a way to mount an EGT gauge in the 100 series that is easily visible. The best I can come up with is a pod on the A pillar.
Has anyone seen a pod that would suit this application, or have any alternate mounting ideas?
Thermoguard does an LED one, but putting it somewhere visible and non obtusive is difficult.

I do believe A Pillar gauge pods were illegal in QLD, few of the guys on the Surf forum were picked up for them.

- backlights can distract other drivers.
- driver has to look 'down' to see the guage.

Just because ol Habib has something similar in his taxi , doesn't mean it's not against the law .
I think if ya did tell the law how to do his job, he might find a few more things to ping ya on while he's there though I agree that you'd be pretty hard done by if you were pinged for the pod

They are only illegal if they obstruct your view from the drivers seat. I had mine down at the base of the A pillar. A pig challenged my once on it, made him sit in the car and then try and tell me they obstructed the view. They just need to be carefully placed to avoid the fuzz getting the rocks off by defecting you.

A mate and I made this for the water temp gauge in my 4Runner......Glued PVC pipe to the a pillar plastic to sit the guage how we wanted it, then bogged it all up and sanded back smooth. Then finally he wrapped it in matching vinyal to the rest of the interior. Makes it look factory!

If I only wanted to add one gauge in my GQ, I would consider ripping out the original clock and putting a gauge there. There'd be room for a single 52mm gauge I think.
I do not know whether this idea has any merit for a 100 series or any other vehicle, but there are plenty of places to fit an aftermarket clock (usually comes with a stereo anyway) so it is a thought.
Actually assuming this is a typical 100 interior:
... what about cutting into the plastic panel that holds the hazard light switch etc, repositioning those three switches a bit closer together, and making room for the gauge? Too fiddly?

Talking of blocking of forward vision...we have the new VE SS's at work.
but one thing, the A pillar is very thick and cars and solo's can get 'lost' behind the A pillar quite easily. The A pillar on these have airbags installed so I guess that is why they are so substantial. ( ah, bring back the HQ and XA 'A' pillars)
