2 inch on roll bars
just curious as to why 90% of people use 2 inch steel on their roll bars when building custom trays? i was wanting to go 3 on mine. is there any real reason people dont or just cauz its easier to work with 2?

for trays standard pipe 2.6mm side walls would be fine, wouldnt worry about gal, harder to weld plus will rust at the welds anyway, if you want gal get it dipped after you build itROGQ wrote:would you just use gal steel?
if you want to run 3" te cheapest and easiest way to build is with weld in bends provided you can get the angles you want with them, most steel supply places have a range of bends for a reasonable price

3" tube is actually weaker for the same length/kg than 2" - it is less resistant to imapct damage too due to the larger radius.
That's why 1.5, 1.75 and 2" are all that gets used, even on the heaviest cages like top fuel and race trucks.
Personally, I would leave 3" for ladder racks.
