full metal jacket - your correct, and i agree with you, but it was the way i was told. i wouldnt liek to drill the leaf ether, as the other hole, that was original to begin with would then become a weak point, and probably get stressed.
I think he meant drill the spring pad on the axle, not drill the spring.
Drilling spring = bad

nah they ment the leafs, to locate where the pads sit on the leafs, so they locate the diff correctly, unless i am incorrect in what i think is the pad,
