GQ engine mount Q

Post by Smartdigger »

Hi,
I did a search on here and on A4WDM and couldn't find much

After recently breaking an engine mount (passenger side) on my GQ out in the bush, which in turn split a radiator hose and also but a small hole in the radiator (whole engine jumped forward), i thought i would try and prevent it from happening again.

So i decided to put a bolt through the whole mount (High tensile 3/8 bolt with a nyloc nut). I have left about 5 to 7mm of "play" and also put some rubber washes on to give a bit more "play."

I'm just wondering if 5 to 7mm of "play" is enough or do i need a longer bolt?

your ideas appreciated.

Cheers,
Dave

sounds ok, weve done the same on a few never had any probs with about that much, only thing is u forget about em and can end up driving round with a done mount and u sit there for 3 weeks wonderin why everytime u punch it u can hear a clunk, certainly better than a hole in ur radiator but
