I have xgt240 lightforce on ARB bar does anyone know of a theft proof system for these lights, thanks.

I know a guy who "used to be" a professional wheel theif, he said once that all the gadgets that ppl put on their cars to stop theft were useless, one trick he did part with that is of use is so simple that its childs play....
a simple piece of high tensile wire through the bolt will put the nut into the "too hard basket".... its the same as a splitpin...pain in da but to remove without a pair of pointynose pliers....dont belive me ???? TRY IT !!!!!
Most thefts are done as quickly as possiable and I could not belive how easy it was for him to undo one of those "special" locknuts ya see on a wheel, just as quick as a normal wheelnut !!! ( as if ya wanna know how )
The trick is to make it "seem" like a nightmare to remove the item.... most theives carry the key to Australia ( boltcutters ) so padlocks and the like are easy and quick to remove.... none of em carry a pair of pointynose pliers !!!. We all add security by buying the bigest posible padlock, most exotic locking wheelnut, massive chains/bars, and fitting mutiple locking points.... all that means is the tools to remove em get bigger in proportion.

Good thinking.. Sort of like the things they use to stop people cuttin padlocks.
Welding the nuts I see as a PITA, if you need to remove the units for any reason laster, the bolt part is fubar and if its not removable....

Do you mean, drill through the thread and place a split pin bellow the nut?
(Sorry just trying to develop mental image of what you mean as I have been thinking about someway of protecting the lights for a while.

U see I have a set of wierd thingys abotu 6 in total that grip onto just about anything, only problem is they dont like tight spaces.
I figure a rounded bolt with two rouded nuts on the other end and a split pin should be sufficient

Use a long bolt and like 4 or 5 nuts of differing sizes that fit the thread, time it takes to undo them all you could easily earn the $$$ to buy a set of lights.

not solong ago there was a post in one of the forums about removing a hex bolt that had rounded off.... the wheel nut uses exactly the same principle.
Get a high quality wheelbrace and a hammer...... thats all ya need to remove those special locknuts....
put the wheelbrace on the nut....belt it on tight...undo... just before the nut comes off of the stud, wriggle the wheelbrace around to free the nut ,.. remove the nut with ya fingers.
I didnt belive it worked after he told me ...but haveing tried it ..

You may have seen my mentioning about the rounded nuts and the wierd tool i had that could grip to anythign round...........
I used the big one on dads cruiser to get the spare off after he lost the lock nut bit. It was a peice of piss....... spring it back clip it on and pull..........yoinked it loose in about 3seconds (x3 to include the other two bolts) and I had one tyre ready to roll in about 26seconds (thats three nuts loosend and removed
So i guess my theory for the lights and the rounded nuts was pretty dumb.
While were on the topic, the reason my father had lock nuts on his truck was one early mourning when we walked out the front door and down the stair to the car (I was only about 14) mum was takin us to school, we all got to the car and I was like.....'MUM.... where are the tires?'
5x Brand new 31"BFG ATs on brand new alloy rims.... all gone (DAD WAS NOT HAPPY)
I guess no matter what you do you will never be able to stop a determined thief................. just hope to keep the silly buggers away

Another option is to bolt the lights on as usual, then put another nut right on thh end of the bolt and weld it on. You can still tighten and looses the lights for adjustment, just not remove them. If you weld the nut right on the end of the thread you can weld it so that you can grind the weld off if need be without damaging the whole thread.
