my MQ with the SD33 gets 10.5L/100km, included highway and town work at about 45% each and offroad for 10% when i worked that out. uses 12.3L/100km when towing 2tonne...

I am assuming you mean you are adding 20 to 25 litres of unleaded to a tank of diesel. I am also assuking that the standard tank holds about 90 litres, So ecomony would be around 10 lt/100km. Around what I would expect a unmod'ed diesel 4by to return



However it is a datsun, so so it most likely did 750 of those km's were being towed by a cruiser.

I get about 13-15 L/100klm depending on if it's hwy/city. I get identical fuel economy to Suzuki Jimny's on the beach at high tide in really soft sand because the wrangler just cruises along barely above idle whereas the Jimny's are revving their tits off to keep up.

yeah I agree but I've only owned a Sierra 4x4 ute so it is the most economical 4x4 ute that I know

I borrowed a 1.3 sierra swb n the fuel economy was as bad as the vr coomo I had at the time, the best Ive had was an mq ute with sd33t n 5 speed. Closely followed by my modded td42t gq ute

It would depend on the individual vehicle. If its too high gearing (big wheels no gearing) then its gonna guzzle and be terribly gutless. Standard will do quite good. It also depends on the load in the car too; though mine manages 9km/L with 3 people in it, towing 6x4 trailer up the beach (mines a SWB not a ute though).

A zook with a fuel injected transplant should do better than a stocker. WRT to other ute options other than a Suzuki, if you want economy I think diesel is the go, which make? I think there could be little in it, economy wise.

Still harping on earlier comments, Hogga, give us more info! You want an efficient 4x4 ute, that all we know. For all we know you want a hot pink Daihatsu Rocky ute (apologies to Daihatsu owners), with a roof chop, on 3" lowering blocks, low profile tyres, and a amplifier big enough to power a concert hall...

if your really wanting something cheap to run get a scooter, they use next to no fuel, $10 full tank = 2 weeks of running around.

managed to stretch it to 20 litres ulp and 100 vege oil. Shes pretty grumpy at 6am though, but when shes warm shes sweet as per usual. should do better again now the 35 are off it, so its back to std ratios again.

Just wish my diesel paj would return the same cost. i hate modern technology.
