Can I put a turbo easily onto a 2.8 Triton

Post by Vineboy »

I have a MK Triton with a 2.8 non turbo. Will a Mits' 2.8 turbo and manifold just bolt up or will I be better going aftermarket?

To quote Rev Lovejoy: Short answer yes with an if, or no with a but...

Actually I'm quite interested to see anyone's educated response...

His name is Robert Paulson. His name is Robert Paulson. His name is Robert Paulson. His name is Robert Paulson.

In a word yes, with some buts!

the manifold and turbo will bolt straight on, but the turbo motor runs less compression via different pistons (protrusion above block 0.55 to 0.77 non turbo, 0.45 to 0.67 turbo).
the injection pump on the turbo also runs a boost compensator.
not sure what other differences the two motors run.

What is the engine name for the turbo? Is it 4M40 for the non-turbo or is that the turbo name?
