As far as cost. I would think they would be cheaper than a H233. As most people dont need a diff that size.
About a $100 for a G60 rear diff

errr. Kinda wrong. There are 3 GU diffs....
"Cabstar" is the monster. Is in the rear of leaf sprung GU utes.
Possible the same size as the G60. A two tonne rated diff. Fully floated diff.
H260 is its smaller brother, as in rear 3 litre GU's wagons.
H233 is the smallest, as in rear coil sprung GU ute.
"Cabstar" size-wise is as bigger again when ya compare the size of the H260 to that of the H233.

I'm quite happy to admit that I am wrong if someone says that it aint a cabstar. But just from looking at a leaf sprung GU rear diff, they are quite larger than that of the housing that is in a 3 litre GU wagon.
Either than or I really am quite blind from looking into too many lasers...

i had a leaf GU and a coil GU here and the centres are identical. the housing is slightly different (keep in mind its full floating) but the centre is not.bushy555 wrote:I'm quite happy to admit that I am wrong if someone says that it aint a cabstar. Actually many of the Nissan UD trucks run an H260 rear diff, busses included. They share many things in common with the Patrol all the way back to the 1950's. In early models such as the Nissan Carrier they shared the same motor, transfer case and rear HD diff. Gear ratios were the same in the diffs back then too. Yet the Carrier had a 4spd with a 6.75:1 1st gear unlike the G60 which runs a 3spd. The Nissan Homer from the 1960's & 1970's ran a H260 rear diff. Over the years they have continued to share a few things here and there but have also developed Patrol type power train/running gear suited to the UD trucks. For example in the 1980's the Cabstar ran a ED33 diesel which is basically the same as a SD33. The 5spd in the mid 80's Cabstar is identical to the MK 5spd, I know I have one. There does exist a paticular Cabstar 5spd which will bolt or adapt very easily to a Patrol and has a very low 1st, something like 7:1. Believe it or not there even has been a FF H233 since about 1983/84.mud4b wrote:Potter wrote:here is a cab star sorry it isnt a pic of the diff

Now why would this be? Well for about 40yrs the Patrol was manufactured in the same place as the UD trucks. Which in turn is one reason the Patrol is so overbuilt, ie tranny, engines and diffs designed to be used in big 2-10tonn trucks. I believe it was the GU series in the late 1990's that ended production of the Patrol in the UD truck factory.
Does this do anything for any of you? Nope I doubt it!
www.rmp-o.com
yes rmp&o is correct.
in a way bushy555 is also correct as the diff in a gq or gu leaf sprung ute is the same diff that was in early cabsters, centre output different to the patrols offset out put of the time. the cabstar i beleive also ran the different spline count like a gq/gu diff
but is it still a h260 just a different varient

Pretty sure there is 2 versions of the H260.
A semi floating one and a full floating one.
Also pretty sure the full floater was ONLY on Leafy Cabs on late GQ and series I and II GUs.
All the GU wagons (some odd 3.0 and the 4.8) got was the semi floating
