ring and pinion

Post by alanc »

Hi,
Can anyone confirm that an L300 85 SD front diff is the same as an early Pajero? It appears the same just looking at it and I assume it is 7.25"
Are ring and pinion sets genuine mitsubishi only or are there aftermarket suppliers?
Regards, Al

What gear ratio do you currently have and what gear ratio are you wanting?

ratios

Post by alanc »

I have 4.875 now.
I want to fit a 9" rear and the common ratios here are 4.9 and 4.636. I will buy a L200/Triton rear end.
4.625 in a 7.25" is fairly common in early Pajero/Raider so that should not be too hard to get. It would be so close to the 4.636 that I could live with the wind up, equivalent to about 1 mm rolling radius on 31s.
If I could get an 11 tooth pinion and 51 tooth ring (4.636) for the 7.25" low pinion then that would be ideal.
Thanks, Al

I would have thought you would have no trouble finding a Gen I Pajero 9" rear end with a 4.625 ring gear. They're fairly abundant here in the States.
