I'm trying to improve the performance of my Feroza. Currently the original engine in my Feroza ( carbie ) consume a lot of petrol. It also has a cracked block....
I am wondering... besides the original engine.. are there other engines ( different makes or models ) that are suitable for Feroza...

i'm looking into the 4AGE option as i'm familiar with the engine... being a corolla freak helps here.... but also doing research on the Applause engine...

i'm very interested in the long run results. my roza is an HD-C and its like driving a 3 litre car. i thought of putting in a turbo or supercharged HD-E but to do that i need to buy a whole half-cut as its pretty hard to get just the bits and pieces of an EFI system. another option was a turbo diesel, but regulations are quite tough here in Malaysia. i know a mechanic who would do the 4agze conversion but it would be better to hear from someone who's done it already

Why put an outdated Cast iron Pushrod V6 in a car that is setup for a light weight 4 cly. Wouldn't you be better with a new alloytech V6 or something else lighter? There are plenty of other light weight engines that would be easy to put in .
You could also save the money and put a turbo or blower on the factory HD-E engine. Be alot easier.

I did it because the diesel blew up (rocky) and was goin to cost $3500+
to rebuild it. Didnt like the idea of spending that much and still have a slow/rattly/smelly piece of crap with about 50kw.The hole conversion cost me $2400 and its quite/ smooth and goes cool.
And with a 3.36 diff ratio and 30x9.50 its actualy better on fuel on a trip then the diesel. The v6 is also lighter than the diesel too my truck wieghs

If you gonna go to the lengths of doin a engine conversion why not do an entire drivetrain swap at the same time. When i had the fez i looked at a written off grand vit. 2.5 V6 and 5speed. this mated up to a sierra t/case with crawler gears and lets go. But i didnt have enough coin at the time so i just bought a sierra. shiat on the blacktop but 100% better in the bush.

not drivetrains!!& all that a few of us were trying to do was to give
some helpfull advice on conversions that we have already done,
& they have proven cheap,& reliable!!!!!!!!

So you can buy an adaptor to fit a Commy V6 to a Feroza gearbox? Unlikely and the box wouldn't survive long. It's no different to the Vitara transplant mentioned above- you'd need basically a new drivetrain. At least with the Vitara option you can buy the whole lot as a factory matched set and don't need a Holden engine fitted with aftermarket adaptors and a Toyota box/ transfer case .

Im not 100% sure,but I have been looking on ebay for S/Chargers or
s/charged V6 motors & have found some buick V6 motors,they look
the same but they usually mention they have to be modified to fit a
commadore,ie sumps ect,but dont forget you will probably have to mod
your sump in a 4x4 conversion or your dif will do it for you,
my dif totaly ate mine,when the bump stops broke

Until the alloytech motors a few years ago, the holden V6 was nearly the same as the old school buick V6. When holden first fitted the V6 to the VN commadore (late 80's) it was already 20 years old, and until the alloytech motors came out a few years ago, it was just a tarted up cast iron heap of sh*t.

The "Alloytechs" aren't much better for refinement. I couldn't believe a "modern" engine design could have such a low redline and be so harsh when I first drove one....
A Buick 3.8l V6 should be almost the same as the older engine being talked about above. I believe they were used in a lot of FWD GM vehicles in the USA?

Does the V6 stay cool ? Hilux to V6's seem to be an issue and require
expensive radiators to fix. What's the go with a Feroza ?

The 3RZ has a lot of stroke and heaps of bottom end so it should be very tolerant of less than ideal gearing.

MIGHTY MOUSE I found a cheap fix for cooling,for around $200 from most
wreckers,you will get a factory AU falcon radiator & shrouded twin thermo
fan setup,mine is mounted on the tray,as powersteer cooler & autotrans
cooler(commy air conditioner core,modified) 16"thermos & winch live up
front,if youhave space for it up front it would stay cooler,but no probs
with heat yet
